Our two were free-ranging in the garden on Saturday. Poppy (pepperpot) wasn't moving around much and we found her standing in a small pool of blood from an injured foot. Still can't work out what happened, but assume she caught a toe in something and damaged it trying to pull free. Cue some improvised dressings involving duct tape and sundry other first aid items. Took her to the vets on Monday as she was a very poorly girl. She had developed an infection, so loaded up with antibiotic and painkillers she moved into the kitchen for a few days. Much perkier today, eating OK and making all the right noises. Return visit to the vet tonight for another dressing - at least this one was pink; yesterdays was blue.

just a quick update.

Poppy spent all of last week indoors and had the dressing replaced with smaller versions. She was able to go out and FR both on Saturday and Sunday with her BFF, Scramble. Back to vets on Monday for a final check, then she stayed in for a couple of nights, then went back to the Eglu yesterday. Seems quite happy and healthy now, but will keep a close watch over the next few days during the cold weather!

Just to update you all - Poppy is now fully fit again. We did have some concerns when she went back outside as she managed to knock the foot and make it bleed again. So, out came the duct tape again... All is well now, although her left toe is wonky and turns inwards and there's a lump on the outside edge which is probably scar tissue from the original wound. I still think there is a possibility that the toe may have been broken originally, although the vet said not at the time...

So harmony is now restored. All we need are some eggs....
