freecycle strikes again

Recommended Posts

Some people on my local freecycle group today asking for a camper van and a potters wheel. Thing is, I so know someone who gave away their old Bedford Dormobile on freecycle, so they might get lucky!!

Grabby posts are not pleasant, I agree!

Someone looking for a car with an MOT on our local group

And I just freecycled a washing machine that worked but had started to leave dirty marks on clothes so something is going (I can't remember what it is) so needed repair. First person didn't show then tried to blame me because I hadn't given her a phone number she could use. Next person claimed it was for a womens refuge and when I checked into it of course she was lying  Finally went to someone I realised was using a false name on his email  and he dragged the machine across my floor until I raised my voice when asking him not too. My sanded and varnished floorboards may be showing signs of wear but that was a lot of work and I don't need extra s"Ooops, word censored!"es

These people are really putting me off freecycling stuff :(

Willow, I feel your pain.

You know, it might have been worth advertising it on Ebay as faulty for spares,w with a 99p starting price.

A lot of people get rid of old ovens that way, cheaper than paying to have them taken away.

If someone is willing to bid, then they are more likely to turn up than when something is free. And you don't have to deal with people lying (no reason for them to lie to get the machine).

It's now free to list up to 20 items a month, so there's no cost to you if it doesn't sell.

I offered some Christmas tree lights yesterday and got a lovely long chatty email today from a gentleman that wanted a new set of lights to put on his Acer in the front garden. He even attached 2 photos and asked me to send a photo back  since I was viewing email on my iPad I was curious and opened expecting something dodgy

He had indeed attached 2 photos of his lovely small cherry tree (tree identification obviously not one his strengths ;) One photo in full blossom and one covered by snow. Nicest email I've ever had from Freegle but odd too. Sadly my Christmas lights were unsuitable for outside use.
