I am so glad I am not alone - i too want to correct grammar, add commas, full stops just so you can breathe whening reading it. I hate the fact that tissues and hankies are so often absent - esp on TV shows _ the worst I have seen is Scott and Bailey - the dark haired actress if she cries as part of the story pinches her nose - wheres her tissues? - Soooooooooo unhygienic - i think the writers think its cute - it isnt its gross.

Oh dear. I'll take this opportunity to apologise for any in my posts. Plus typos. I do try to proof read but I tend to see what I think I have written instead of what I have actually written.

 

There was a classic in my local shop on a A4 poster for a s"Ooops, word censored!" metal dealer

I don't know if this will help....when I go into Facebook via Firefox, a spell check comes up if I've spelt something incorrectly, but not when using Internet Explorer. Do you use Firefox?

Oh dear. I'll take this opportunity to apologise for any in my posts. Plus typos. I do try to proof read but I tend to see what I think I have written instead of what I have actually written.

 

Typos in posts don't bother me. It's official errors that make me scream. We all slip up when typing and unless you employ a proof reader (because even spell checks can miss errors) everyone will make a mistake sooner or later. I think it's the same as speaking, e.g. we all drop the letter h from time to time when having a friendly chat with a friend but if you were in an interview you'd concentrate more. I'm sure I remember reading about a study that showed it is harder to proof read on a screen than on paper. Although this may be changing with the advent of Kindles etc.

Spell check can make things worse, we have a young receptionist who lacks confidence in her spelling so uses the spell checker on everything. We have had messages to ring back an exciting client and please could be order some more invincible tape . We do love her it lightens the day.

I'm another who reads what I think I've written and actually I have written total goobledegook. We see some howlers in general practice and I was never allowed to forget the time I advised a patient to soak his feet in a bowel!!! Non of us perfect.

I work in Communications for my day job so am often writing leaflets, news stories etc etc. so daytime Debs needs to watch her P's and Q's.

 

Evening Debs is chilling, so expect tons of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors because I really want to post and not think!!
