Purplemaniacs
In a Rutland village there was a quilting show today, DD, baby and I went to have a look. There were some stunning quilts. We were trying to work out how some of them were made, they must have taken ages to complete. I am now quite tempted to have a go. I was thinking of going for a kit, do you think that would be a good idea? Chrissie
Mrs Webmuppet
A kit can be a good idea but it does depend on wether you like the fabrics in the kit. I would suggest you take yourself off to a quilting shop and see what they have. I tend to buy a book or pattern and then choose the fabrics (i love batik fabrics and very few kits have them)a good book or pattern will tell you exactly how much fabric you will need. There's loads of free quilting patterns on the 'net. If you get stuck give me a shout I have quite a few patterns in books.
Snowy
Was this the one at Wing? If so we went a couple of years ago - I agree, there were some stunning quilts, and some very good fabric stalls!

If so we went a couple of years ago - I agree, there were some stunning quilts, and some very good fabric stalls! Hi Snowy yes it was. DD and I were both amazed at some of the quilts. The fabric stalls were an eye opener too, lots of new terms, some of the fabric was lovely. DD said it was a shame she had aready bought me my birthday present or she would have bought me some for my birthday. I have hinted to OH but I won't hold my breath. Plum
You've got to have a go, you never know where it will lead. I started off with a simple pattern book and chose a few calico prints and just bungled along but loved it and have done the odd class but mostly self taught. If you like it there are quite a few groups around to give you help and inspiration
Purplemaniacs
For my birthday last week OH bought me a book on quilting so once my OU assignment is finished and the national archery tournament that I am organising at the beginning of July has taken place I am going to have a go. I will probably be back asking lots of questions Chrissie
