Forum or Facebook?

Recommended Posts

I do waste a lot of time on facebook and I don't know why. I'm essentially afraid to post anything because I have accumulated and insane amount of friends so I have lost track of who can actually see what I post there. Putting it bluntly, facebook, in my opinion, is a bit of a stalker's paradise.

To be honest, I would be happier if it was possible to get rid of the main "Facebook" but keep the messaging/chat part, which is handy, I must admit.

Comparing Facebook and this Forum are, as HarrisonFamily said, is like comparing a little neighbourhood to a city.

To finish, this forum has helped me to help my hens when I was in bother, and has provided an atmosphere that is friendly; far more friendly than any other forum that I have ever used.

Facebook on the other hand has done nothing for me, bar waste my time.

My daughter likes Skype chat which she uses, you can type in messages or chat singly or in groups.

I couldn't agree more.

I expect I'll return to Facebook when I am retired and have time on my hands . . . but perhaps it won't be around then  My sister who in her 50s is doing a late degree with loads of early 20s says she thinks that these days it is used more by 'our' generation than by the young. Guess they have all migrated onto Twitter (anyone in their 20s or younger - have you?) or Skype (as you say Dogmother).

Coming from a member of the "younger-ish  " generation, I have noticed that these things are like fads. First it was text messaging (which still survives to this day quite well)...then it moved on to bebo and myspace, which are now essentially ghost towns. Everybody then migrated to facebook, and to be honest, I think it is starting to lose a bit of popularity as people move to Twitter, but I still think FB is going strong (unfortunately).

Other messaging apps, such as hookt, viber and snapchat, come and go at lightning speed.

It is really between facebook and twitter.
