soapdragon
I bought the verbena liquid soap refills from QVC at 3 times 500ml for £25.50 which I thought was quite good as it lasts for ages - I use it in the shower too. They have an outlet shop at Bicester Village too which is worth a visit if you are in the area!
sadietoo
Has anyone else used any L'Occitane and, if so, what did you think of it? I am a recent convert. I love their almond shower oil and their lavender hand cream. Their products are completely free of animal products which as a veggie is important to me. I would certainly recommend based on my own experience
Cinnamon
The Crabtree & Evelyn ones are fantastic too.....I got a big box of them last year as an apology, after they were horribly rude to my daughter & myself in the Reading branch, Just being nosey Sarah - what happened?? Well.............we popped in as I had a voucher for a free hand cream from the newspaper. It comes in several different scents. So I handed to voucher over & the sales woman asked me which one I would like & I said I would like to smell a couple of them to decide - not an unusual request I would have thought! But she actually rolled her eyes, then when she came back with the samples I put my hand out to take one so I could smell it & she snatched it back from me, saying that I HAD to try it on my hand rather than just sniffing it. I didn't really want 3 different smelling creams all clashing on my skin & told her so, but she refused to let me smell the tubes. She was downright rude & kept looking down her nose at my daughter, who had dreadlocks at the time, has piercings & was wearing short shorts & DM boots. She made it really obvious that she didn't want us in her shop, so I rang head office when I got home & complained loudly
Groovychook
How incredibly rude! So glad you were recompensed. I bought a tube of their hand cream yesterday... expensive for the size of it but very lovely. They only had the pomegranate so no choice, but I love their products, they smell divine

Well done you for not putting up with it,
Cinnamon
Ironically, even though I was picking up a freebie, my girl had money to spend in there that day for a friends birthday. They missed out - she went to L'Occitane instead.... it was all very Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman (without the prostitution!)

Valkyrie
My friend loves Clarins - it doesn't affect her skin allergy, but sadly can't afford it. So that's what she gets for her Christmas pressie. For my hands (and I do not use it on my face) I use Udderly Smooth. Yep, it's udder cream for cows - originally for mastitis and I get it from quilting shops. It was found to be good for pricked, sore fingers while quilting. And boy is it good! Again doesn't come cheap so I tend to stock up at shows when I can get a discount!

soapdragon
Well - I tried the Boots Lift and Luminate and it did neither! Now just got the Nivea naturals anti wrinkle cream for both day and night. This has the added plus of being 95% natural and various nasties free! Still bamboozled by the choices available Incidentally the Boots stuff was £25.00 per jar, which I though was a bit steep but the Nivea was on offer in Tesco at £4.something per jar so will be a bonus if it actually works
pips_pekins
Only just read this thread. I gave up with the more expensive stuff many years ago. I use Simple Regeneration age resisting day cream with SPF15. It is often on special offer in various supermarkets or Boots and is not that expensive even when full price. I also use the night cream. I seem to have sensitive skin which can react quite badly to certain products. Never had a problem with any of the Simple range though. My hands really do suffer and I use Body Shop Hemp Intensive Hand Butter at night. It smells pretty bad but works really well. In the day time I use Soap and Glory hand cream which smells much nicer
soapdragon
No contest for my hands/feet....has to be Loccitane from e bay or QVC as its wonderful but face cream is a different story I'd love to find something that could get rid of the under eye bags!! Valkyrie
Looking at my growing quilt patches on my skin I must admit Polyfiller came to mind. Then I thought oh well that is the same as my mum. It's a genetic thing and I could dunk my head in a tub of Vaseline and it wouldn't make any difference. Although I may slide off the pillow at bed time. Cinnamon
Has anyone else tried Holland & Barrets Snail Gel? http://reviews.hollandandbarrett.com/3332-en_gb/012188/dr-organic-snail-gel-reviews/reviews.htm I have been using it for a few weeks now & think it is really rather good - my skin tone has certainly evened out a lot. This combined with a facial oil, either Liz Earle or L'Oreal, works really really well for my skin
Grandmashazzie
I'm recent convert to L'occitane, expensive but little goes long way.Best thing for ageing is high sunscreen all day everyday to prevent sun damage.Sadly in my case my mum should have been slapping it on when I was small. In those days the browner you were the better?I try to encourage my kids to put sunblock on but I don't think they're listening. Also giving the oral collagen shots a go.Quite dear but usually 3 for 2 at Boots. You never know might work.I remember someone saying you would be better eating collagen cream and it was wasted putting on skin.So now you can eat it.I'm trying pure gold collagen, but the active one tastes better
patsylabrador
I don't bother with products specifically called moisturizer. My current regime is a massage of biooil, followed by a massage of avocado oil then lavender body butter. I dab off any excess oil. I'm satisfied with the results. At 55 I feel good about my skin. It feels good and it looks good in a dusty mirror without my glasses on and in a dim light. I don't feel the need to wear make-up other than my mascara which is very important to me. soapdragon
I must admit to never having worn make up unless on VERY special occasions. Possibly a mistake as I have heard that regular make up wearing protects the skin? That said, I don't feel I'm holding up too badly approaching 50 at a brisk run! Its just the bags under the eyes since YS was in special care at birth for over 2 months and I was only getting 3-4 hours sleep per 24 hours. Still he is more than worth it, bless him! Alis girls
Without my slap I am asked if I am unwell as I'm a pale English rose (probably not in her best bloom at 52) I wear foundation and concealer, blusher eye line mascara and eye shadow and frankly you cant tell as its subtle - I darent use a magnifying mirror for fear of what I might find. Yes I;m vain but its a coping mechanism - I dont have the olive skin I crave - more Viking - blond n blue eyes.
