My perfect house sigh!!!

Recommended Posts

I have found my Nirvana in a house thirty six minutes away on the next county it is a 2 bed but it has two gardens  one very long 15ft x 100ft that comes off the house and conservatory but then it has another separate secret garden which is 100ft x 70ft with a summer house veg beds and a chicken coop a look on google earth shows it backing on to fields so no reason not to be able to have a cockerel the house itself has character with beams and latch doors and a wood burning stove it has off road parking and is in a hamlet It is perfect it is also only 12 mins away from 2nd DDs new house so she could house and chicken sit. Now how do I talk DH into downsizing from our current 4 bed YD is still at home and 2nd DD has said house but moved in yet

Perhaps take him for a drive in that area and "accidentally" spot the for sale sign? Then you have an excuse for looking up the details and finding all the lovely things you've always wanted.

Downsizing to something sustainable should appeal economically, and you can try pushing it on the "move now and we won't ever need to move again" theme. There's plenty of encouragement for not leaving downsizing too late in life,as apparently you're then likely to be too set in your ways to ever do it, so go for it now (even though you're still very young). Never too soon to move into a perfect house!

Or you could just show him the details, and tell him you're going and he can come with you

My perfect house is also on the market at the moment - Georgian manor style (though built in Victorian times), huge rooms, lots of light, 2 acres .... Just need a lottery win to afford to buy it and a second win to afford to keep it. Would definitely need staff!

Find a way to get DH to look at your perfect house and go from there :D

Sounds idyllic.Your title set me thinking when we were first married and living in a flat I used to drool over the house in Butterflies.I loved everything about it.Now if I catch re runs I think gosh how dated.

Our tastes do change, don't they? When we first got married I really wanted to live in a huge gated red brick house not far away, with loads of ground. It has been on the market a couple of times and I was praying to win the lottery so we could buy it. Now I'm glad that didn't happen - it is too big and ostentatious and let's face it there are just the two of us - we would rattle around in it. All (!) I/we want now is something big enough for the two of us and friends to visit, with enough land to grow our own and for the chooks obviously, maybe a goat or two and some alpacas, maybe some sheep....

Your dream house sounds perfect Kate :D
