Egzandra
Could the omleteers advise me, please, on what to do with five tins of pumpkin puree that I recently bought online? The 5th was to get free postage and they were all an impulse buy. They look at me from my cupboard shelves and I have not used any yet. Would like to do something cake-y or some sort of bread, muffins or anything else a bit more unusual.
bluekarin
Gosh I don't know. Can you use them in replacement of the fruit in say a banana bread? Or in carrot cake? Or wait until thanksgiving and make pumpkin pie

Saronne
Where online did you buy it? I'm from the States originally, but have trouble finding tins of the stuff. I would make pie and bread - though to be honest, now that I grow winter squash, etc. I could make my own.

Daphne
I made these a couple of times with some persimmons I was given: http://[/url]http://allrecipes.com/recipe/moist-persimmon-cookie/ A very ripe persimmon gives a squishy mush, much like a pumpkin puree, and its vaguely the same flavour profile too - ie sweet but a bit weird So, you could probably look for recipes involving persimmons. Sorry, how do I get this to hyperlink?

Egzandra
Thank you everybody for your replies and the wonderful links. I bought my pumpkin in tins off Amazon and I used one today making some pumpkin bread. Has turned out OK, though I needed to convert the recipe which was in cups, and drastically reduce the amount of sugar. Tastes not unlike a moist gingerbread but with other spices predominant rather than the ginger. I will take some of it to work tomorrow as it is my birthday.
