Space Chick
As I was awake at stupid o'clock this morning, I decided to make a spreadsheet of all my wool!! Out came all the containers and boxes came, and each ball was logged! So, here is a chance to win BIG! The person who gets closest will win something I have knitted!!! Prize may be some time, as I've only just started a dress and have an unfinished jumper too! So, here are the two things you need to guess: 1. Total weight of my wool 2. Number of balls This thread serves no purpose other than to shame myself into stop buying wool!! But thought it would be fun to do a quiz with a prize for the winner!! Mrs Webmuppet
My guess is 10kilos wool and 110balls of wool. That's more than I have
Space Chick
Thanks Mrs W, nice to have someone starting off proceedings. I'm not giving any indications either way Roll up, roll up.... get your guessing in now for a chance to win a mystery star knitted prize
Olly
Ooh, I can't resist a challenge! I'm guessing at 17 kilos of wool, and I reckon some of it is probably in large balls, some small so ... 230 separate balls of wool. No idea really but it's got to be worth a try! I am very impressed that you've done a spreadsheet. Does this mean you won't buy any more because you know exactly what's in your stash? Angie
I have a large stash myself, but I have sorted out all the oddments and got it all ready to go to charity knitters and I am posting 4 large bags weighing 3kg.......please remember this is left over not to be used by me. Sooooo What do you have ? Around 35 kg in an assortment of yarn weights 400 , 100 and 50 gm balls an estimate of around 460 balls of wool ? Plum
No idea but a guess 210 balls of wool and weight 15 kg You're going to feel daft when you say you have 20 balls and 2 kg of yarn

Blackrocksrock
79 balls of wool and weighs 3.5kg
craftyhunnypie
320 balls of wool, weighing approx. 2.7 kg ? I think you have a lot of wool, based on the fact that to make a garment requires about 10 - 12 + balls. Then you''ll have odd balls of this 'n' that as well. This makes me wonder how much I have stashed. Emma.x
Space Chick
I'll close this tonight I think..... Last chance for anymore guesses
Purplemaniacs
Can I guess please. 295 balls and 8.4kg. I think you have quite a lot waiting to be used and as you knit a lot there will be balls left over from finished projects. Chrissie
Space Chick
And the winner is......... PLUM Plum was the closest in her vote ......... Angie
Well done Plum . You lucky thing getting something knitted as a gift ( and you've not had to do it yourself hehehehe.) But as for the stash ??? I guess I have a lot more than SpaceChick then . ( A lot more) I have a Shetland shawl on the go atm which will use 1600 yds of yarn in 2 ply lace (400gms of wool ) and I have just finished another that used 350 gms 2 ply lace Shetland wool , which once it is washed and blocked will be off on its way to its new home. I am also crocheting a throw for the sofa in DMC cotton that is a massive 36 x 50 gm balls of cotton and none of this is out of my stash. I have a home for my oddments and they go on Monday...I will get the coffee table back.( the bags are all over it .) I just love to hear from other omleteers with crafty fingers. Space Chick
Glad you like it Plum It looks good on you As for the yarn, my MIL got it from one of the craft TV channels (she got lots of colours in a bulk buy), she knitted a scarf and I was very intrigued about how it worked as it looked so unusual, so she sat me down and showed me and then let me have my own to do Angie, I have to say I am very very impressed that you have a lot more wool than me (Although, I didn't go into hobby craft on Weds just to pick up a some more wool needles and end up buying up some of their clearance wool that has been reduced to a £1 a ball and was still part of their 3 for 2 offer, taking my stash up to 192 balls Ok I did But in my defence, it was a bargain )
Bramble
Wow! That's a LOT of wool I've been following this post, but didn't DARE post a guess - thought I'd be way off as I'm not a knitter (and I would have been) - you could set up your very own ebay shop Space Chick!! Angie
Oh No Space Chick ...Not the clearance sale, it is lethal Did they have the sirdar click near you ? I almost bought all they had but OH is home and he Tutted Yes Tutted at me , and I had to walk on past it , but was kicking myself , it was only a pound a ball. ( and I know it won't be there when he goes back ) I do have a large stash , my excuse is with 6 grandchildren to knit for you grab a bargain when you see it. ( and knitting 6 Aran sweaters or cardi's will use an awful lot of yarn over the summer nights ,ready for the autumn chill and winter. for a 14 yr old to a 4 yr old. ) Still the "snake" is an unusual yarn and very attractive too .
