Need help with quote from Piglet please.

Recommended Posts

I don't have time to watch all of our Disney films of Winnie the Pooh, but wondered if someone knows the quote Piglet says about " being braver than you think" etc, when he is about to start ice skating by himself - I think that's what he does.

Or in fact, now I think about it does Pooh say it to Piglet :?

Or is it even Christopher Robin ?

Think I've been in too much sun

Thanks very much :D

Any recollection I have of Winnie the Pooh, is now through the books of Benjamin Hoff: The Tao of Pooh and the Te of Piglet, in which reference to the Piglet quote on being brave is mentioned.

"It is hard to be brave, when you’re only a very small animal."

Off the top of me head, I don't know which of the A A Milne stories it is in, but it is very definitely said by Piglet himself.

Am not a fan of the Disney Pooh stories... so can't even imagine where that quote might come in their movies/shorts, and it wouldn't surprise me if they (Disney) changes who said it, for the purposes of a more endearing story telling.

[edit] Couldn't resist... I had to check.

It's in the first Milne book Winnie the Pooh (1926) and the chapter is 7:

In Which Kanga and Baby Roo Come to the Forest and Piglet has a Bath

Well am gutted now.

I can;t find the quote at all, but if you don;t want to sit through many hours of Winnie the Pooh DVD's..?

It's:

The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh: Luck Amok/Magic Earmuffs

Season one, episode 15

Sorry, but that's a Disney quote not a Winnie the Pooh quote!

I know it comes from the film but A A Milne would never have written that. Afraid I love the books and loathe the films, although I accept that they are loved by many people.

It is very similar to the AA Milne quote though

“If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you.”

― A.A. Milne

And this one

“Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

― A.A. Milne

I think my favourite Pooh film is where he floats up on a balloon to steal the honey from inside a tree and a bee gets bumped into the mud making the bee angry.

The bee then buzzes really fast to sting Pooh on the bottom and then it sits on a twig laughing it's head off.

Just something about that laugh brings a big smile to my face.

That's what I like about this forum - who would have thought we'd be discussing Winnie the Pooh :D:D:D

My brother had Disney sound track when we were growing up and we listened to it a lot. I can still quote a lot of it now

In our house there is a very often used expression 'I wasn't eating it, I was just tasting it' This is obviously because we are such greedy piggies :lol:

I also find this pops into my head a lot 'The wonderful thing about Tiggers is that Tiggers are wonderful things'. I find it both funny (he is sooooo appealing!) and uplifting.

And I often think about poor Eyeore and his sad ears :(

I have obviously been Disneyed

Oh and I nearly forgot. OH is extra fond of the EH Shepherd book illustrations and when we first met I used to buy him quite a lot of framed postcards of them, Piglet especially.

I'm now thinking perhaps I need therapy

You've got me reading A.A.Milne quotes quite obsessively now. He's brilliant, forget all those gurus and therapists- read Winnie the Pooh.

A few years ago, my OH was doing some stained glass work for a client who had written a book along this very theme. He came home with a signed copy for me 8)

I've just had a look and found it on Amazon...

(sorry- hopeless with the linky things!)

When I first saw the title subject line being omlet which for me equates to any animal related subjects I thought it was in reference to a monetary quote for a pig related product  and even though I don't know a thing about pigs I just had to have a nosey  I now I realise I know nothing about winnie the pooh as not one of my kids were really interested in him :( My only winnie the pooh memory was of my two DDs crying because we wouldn't call there new baby brother Christopher Robin  instead of Christopher Dennis lol
