Purplemaniacs
My granddaughter saw my knitting, Omlet cardigan from years ago She asked if I could teach her to knit. She is left handed. My question is do I teach her as if she was right handed or do I reverse it? Thanks Chrissie
Egluntyne
I'm left handed, but was taught by a right hander, so do it the right handed way. There are umpteen videos on youtube which teach how to knit left handed, which may help her.
Purplemaniacs
Thanks Egluntyne. She is a bit young but is showing an interest. Today we made cup cakes and I tried to show her how to use a piping bag left handed Chrissie
Valkyrie
My nan was left handed but knitted in a right hand method - she used to tuck one needle under her right arm and manoeuvre the left needle instead. She made fab stuff. But I only have a crotcheted jumper that she made for me now. I wouldn't dream of going out in it now, but no way am I throwing it away. ubereglu
I'm right handed but am a left handed knitter because my sister taught me, and was also taught by a left hander. I don't think it matters too much really, just see what works best for her.
