Alis girls
The Asian family on Corrie have some Sussex hens in the back garden!! The character in the soap was expecting lotsa eggs - good luck with that mate - moulting, egg eating and ageing aside - you might get one a day like me. Cynical you bet!!! Luvachicken
Haven't caught up with all the Christmas Corries yet but will look forward to seeing some feathered friends on it. Do they have an Eglu too ?
Egluntyne
No Eglu unfortunately. Let's hope they don't pass on misinformation.
Alis girls
No a fancy wooden jobbie with en suite!! And a cockerel. Not mentioned a cockerel but tonights episode definately I heard a crow in a built up area too
gavclojak
A cockerel? Sally's gonna freak!!!
JellyBean2605
Yep, she's gonna go round the twist! (Again) Me and my mum saw this when watching it this morning, she laughed herself silly over it!
Egluntyne
One definitely crowed in tonight's episode.
Alis girls
Unless they have a chicken and have put in cockerel noise to make a storyline, in which case its inaccurate and the guy who plays Sean keeps chucks in real life so they have someone on hand whos in the know. If thats the case shame on you Corrie. Get your facts right.
Luvachicken
Having caught up, I noticed that the chickens were actually all still running about in the dark with Sharif (?) trying to catch them. Surely he should have been told to keep them shut in for a week so they knew where their house was ? And I heard the cockerel too - in a residential area ...tut tut Has anyone warned him of the red mite I wonder. It will be interesting to see who gets the first egg, him or us
wez
Been watching this too since my ears pricked up at the mention of chooks then heard Mr Cockerel doing his thing ... Don't wish to be a spoilsport but I really hope that they portray this properly otherwise it could result in a glut of people thinking its a novelty idea and then buying and regretting the commitment to welfare. We know chooks mostly look after themselves but that entails a not insubstantial contribution from us onlookers who provide feed, water, clean bedding, wormers, healthchecks, shutting them up safely etc ... What was that about a dog is for life not just for Christmas ... in this case a chook?!
JellyBean2605
i agree with wez, this could go wrong and it is rather irresponsible of the show producers as it may well inspire loads of people to rush out and get them before they realise quite what they are signing up for, also it might create a rather negative image of back garden chicken keeping and cause trouble for people (depending on how the storyline goes). That being said it can't make life any different for me, my neighbours haven't spoken to me since i got the chickens anyway and i can't say i miss them (and i very much doubt they are Corrie types)
Luvachicken
I agree with wez and Jellybean too, in fact I was hoping that they look after the chickens better than they do any children in Corrie. I often wonder where Amy is when all the adults are elsewhere and the time is way after school has finished. Then of course there's Simon and Joseph and Jack, not to mention all the others Where do they all go ? A sure case for social services I would have said. Cat tails
And then there is me wondering for 11 posts, what this programme Corrie is... As I've never heard of it... But that's what you call Corronation Street! Mystery solved!
Alis girls
Sorry Cats tails I assumed everyone know what I meant I will be very cross if this storyline is badly handled.
Egluntyne
There is nowhere near enough room in that run! No wonder they aren't'the laying.
Luvachicken
There is nowhere near enough room in that run! No wonder they aren't'the laying. Yes, I thought that too. And yet again, they were all still up way past dark
Alis girls
What was the point of the larva? lamp does anyone know? My girls are tucked up way before Corrie comes on. They need their beauty sleep. I think i heard a cockerelee sound again. Naughty story writers
Chickabee
I don't like it. The coop is far too small. Chickens sleep when it's dark and I can't see a cockerel in there. I hope they let them free range. It's really not a good representation of how it should be done
Alis girls
Yes an ideal story line would be FR chickens and that annoying mother slipping on a poop and falling on another poop. T'would make an excellent story - I can see her skidding now - lets face it we've all slipped on a rogue poo before now.
Luvachicken
You mean the gran/librarian/community centre/zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz lady ? I am really not keen on her either. Can't wait to see her slipping on that poop now
Chickabee
You're all so mean. I just slipped on my bottom trying to find eggs in the dark

Alis girls
I wish they would have a smilie of a rogue poo, a chicken owner slipping on one and eggs flying everywhere. I feel lucky when I retrieve my one egg of the day - eggs plural - grrr
