daxigirl
You know the belief that a chicken will always find a high perch to roost on. Turns out it's a lie. Fraggle was messing me about and not joining the other bigguns back in the run at bedtime so I put the flap down, said "oh bug*** you I'll come back later" went off to sort the other houses out. It was only when I went out about 4 hours later and pitch black to give the guinea pigs their bedtime carrot that I thought, "What are you doing out here Woody (dog) I don't remember letting you out you must be frozen", closer inspection found Fraggle neatly settled down in the middle of the frost covered lawn. Lucky for her she'd come under the barrier fencing (something she's never ever achieved in the past) otherwise she'd have been out there all night, I'd completely forgotten about her. Very close shave all round. Woody was still on the sofa.
Lewis
At least you went out to do the piggies and found her!
The Dogmother
I think most of us have done something like that over the years.
Cat tails
My cat doesn't beg for food... Ever... Poor thing... Because I have forgotten to top her food on a number of occasions...
Chickabee
I often used to take the dogs to the stables with me whilst I did my chores. Normally about an hour. Used to forget they were in boot til it was time to go home

Valkyrie
Yes, shut the girls in at night only to be woken up at 5 by a bored maran who decided to roost on the old wooden roosting bars that I'd set up in their run. She had some food and then went back to bed while I was in the garden in my hubbies dressing gown wishing she'd hurry up because it was cold! I didn't check first to see if they'd all gone in. I do now - I value my sleep!
Alis girls
sounds like the spec savers ad with the hat and short sighted vet. I have nearly stepped on the cat only to find its someones bag, scarf etc. and not the cat after all. You might need specs
