gongladosh Posted April 7, 2015 Share Posted April 7, 2015 Sadly our oldest girl Troy has died - we've had her for just under 5 years. She's had quite a journey from gawky underling with massive legs and no body, to in time becoming a beautiful bird, assuming the mantle of top hen and in her later years carving out her own niche as an honorary top hen (while rival Morris took over the big job). She'd not laid an egg in two years but somehow managed to pop out one last egg a fortnight ago. Finally, after a long happy life (just under 5 years as a hybrid!) she sat down in the nest box and died in her sleep. Here are a couple of photos of her as we got her, and as she was in later life.
