The Dogmother
There is a general shortage of Flubenvet at the moment; the powder seems to be out of stock at most suppliers, and some still have stocks of the pellets. Eli Lilley can't shed any light on when they will be back in production If anyone has any more news, I'd be glad to hear it.
gavclojak
Oh that worrying, I remember the last shortage. They have stock at my local supplier speed gate and I also see that pet and farm place have some stock. http://www.farmandpetplace.co.uk/products/poultry/poultry-accessories/poulty-health-care/flubenvet-60g-1.html I refuse to panic buy.....maybe I will? PixieDust
Luckily just got some of the pellets which arrived on Friday. Yes I had noticed Farm & Pet Place had been out of stock of the pellets for a few weeks prior to that. Can't help with the powder as I don't use it. Also can't stockpile the pellets as they only seem to have a month left on the use by date. Edit: Just checked and Farm and Pet Place have the pellets still. The Dogmother
I see they give an expected date of 30th April, but when I called Eli Lilley, they weren't able to give an expected date
PixieDust
As a newbie, I gather Eli Lilley is someone to do with the makers or distribution of Flubenvet?
Cinnamon
I just bought my usual Flubenvet infussed layers pellets from Marriages with no problems. They do an even smaller bag now too, for those with just a few hens 5k I think.
mimi5
It's a bit of a mystery I was actually in the right place, at the right time for once and ordered some from my vet's in feb. They have a great "order today, for next day delivery" to the surgery at no extra cost. I'm always there for something (usually for Willow!) My original pot I bought just after getting my original 3, had just run out. But a couple of weeks later I went in for something and they were explaining to another client how there was none to be had from the supplier at the moment and it was a manufacturing problem. My pot should last me about another 3 years, just as well as it had gone up a lot in price

Me too - I got a 5kg bag from them about a month ago. I gather that the manufacturers are waiting for their regular inspection, and it hasn't happened yet. Poor planning methinks. gavclojak
I just went a brought a bag of the 5Kg..not that I was panic buying but my girls are nearly due and flora has the slight runs so better sooner rather than later

Yes I buy the 5k bag which is enough for 3 hens. Saves a bit of money and no wastage.

The Dogmother
They have pellets, as do lots of stockists, but their powder is out of stock.
Valkyrie
Elanco is advertising in the Smallholding magazine. I thought yeah right we'll worm our hens just fine with the 1% that you haven't produced! I've put an order in but they give me weekly updates to say it's still not there! I did do mine in late February but I'd rather have some to hand - hate not having a pot around.
Chucky Mama
There is no date available as yet for Flubenvet 1% which usually means that the wait could be a long one. Solubenol Oral Emulsion is being suggested as a licencensed substitute also containing flubendazole.
Lewis
I spoke with a vet who suggested Solubenol is effective against fewer worms but is the only licenced alternative, I know some people use Panacur off licence. I will Fecal Worm Egg Count my girls to see if they actually need worming and wait for the Flubenvet supply to restock.
Chucky Mama
I spoke with a vet who suggested Solubenol is effective against fewer worms Don't see why that would be the case as it contains the same active ingredient as Flubenvet (flubendazole). The drug company may not have paid to get it 'licensed' for all the same worms as Flubenvet so that it can make claims on the label but if it contains the same active ingredients, it will do the same job in my book. Blackrocksrock
But even with the same ingredients - off licence has a 28 day withdrawal for eggs under the cascade system. Beg your pardon it is licenced and its made by the same manufacturer Janssen. So not long withdrawal!

The Dogmother
If I remember rightly, It was bougth out by Elanco (from Janssen) a couple of yesra back. Anyhow, I digress... yes, Solubenol can be used to dose poultry, but it is marketed mainly for pigs and large flocks, so the dosing instructions show accordingly. Apparently, it should be administered as 1ml per 9ml of drinking water - note, this is just what I have been told, and not by a vet! This sin't very helpful dosing for smaller flocks, but if anyone has any and cares to work out, and verify the dosing, then I'm sire that folks would be grateful. Blackrocksrock
It would be difficult to work out a dose and you would have to not have them free ranging like me - and they drink from bowls beside the back door which we leave for the birds as well as from their glug and a bucket in the garden!. And yes Janssen was taken over by Elanco but its still flashed as Janssen on the product as presume Janssen have the licence! - Maybe they are changing this or the packaging as that seems to make the product unavailable for a while = it happens at work to us all the time and usually its a change of box! The SQP (Suitably Qualified Person) or Vet should give you full dosing instructions. One of the reasons for medicines regulations is so that drugs like this have to be dispensed by people that know what they are talking about.
