Egluntyne
Can anyone recommend a digital camera that takes decent pictures, doesn't cost the earth and above all doesn't uses batteries at a silly rate ie 2 x AA for about 6 pictures in the economy mode. I haven't found rechargeable batteries to be much use I'm afraid. If I want to take pics I have to carry so much kit around it makes it a chore and not a pleasure. chelsea
we bought a Sony Cybershot last weekend (cos we had a wedding). Now we are pretty clueless when it comes to cameras but the chap in the shop highly recommended the sony's picture quality. We wanted a camera with a lithium battery that we could recharge with a plug (rather than AA batteries because they are pants and run out in no time). So far we are very happy with the sony, its a 7.2 mega pixel and its very easy to use. it also has clever functions for taking photo's of fireworks or snow etc. We bought a memory card for it (which was expensive - you prob could get cheaper if you shop around) but it takes over 200 photos on that memory card. Apparently the more "optical zoom" you have on a camera gives you better picture quality and you can zoom in better.
Cinnamon
My camera is brilliant- I got it for Christmas last year. It does use rechargables, but has a tiny battery which you charge while in the camera. This is way better than big old rechargeables! I also carry a spare one of these little batteries when I am out & about, but the battery lasts forever, & I have never once needed to use the spare, not even during a 2 week holiday. It is a Fuji Finepix Z3, is teeny, light & compact (I carry it in my handbag all the time), & came out top for picture quality & features in a recent survey You can set it up to take great photos in different conditions like night, fireworks, sports, snow, sun etc It has 5.1 Mega Pixels,a huge display on the back & a brilliant 3x optical zoom, which works really well. You can also edit photos on the camera, before you download them onto your computer. It also comes with a really good programme for downloading, which is so simple to use. There are different levels of quality for the shots you take, but I have found it hard to fill a card up so far. I have always used Fuji cameras, as they have always been recommended as the best ones. All this & its pink, too There is a newer version here : http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@2054590203.1187429735@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccjaddlkehgfegcflgceggdhhmdgmk.0&page=Product&fm=9&sm=0&tm=0&sku=819541&category_oid=-30997
Mrs Frugal
I've got a Sony DSC-H2 which I absolutely adore. It's a fabulous camera and takes some cracking shots but we've also got a couple of Fuji Finepix digital cameras which take really good quality shots and I'd recommend any of them to you. Richard
Hi Probably too late on this thread but I've had Fuji which have been good, however have had two Olympus point and shoots which have been great; both the 'miu' (greeky sort of letter - u with a tail at the front) range.
