bronze
How long would stewed apple and blackberry kept if frozen well? I ask as DH has announced that he never did chuck out the stuff I had in the freezer when he defrosted it and MIL didn't the time before as she didn't know what was what so I now have a bowl full thats 2 years old. Ugh but theres always a chance so I thought It would ask
Couperwife
I think that the freezer recommends that you keep frozen fruit for about 12 months, but that is just a "we dont want to get sued" guideline. oh, i've read the pictures on the door - our freezer doesn't actually speak hope this helps
bronze
I would have got rid of it a long time ago had I thought but it wasnt me who sorted it all the last few times. Shall I defrost it and just see?

Get drunk I guess I think I'll mix it with the fresh stuff from this year to lift it a bit and then I'll have enough for crumble, pie and ..... oooh yummy
Scary Mary
Confession here, we ate some 9 year old frozen stewed apples the other day....my daughter was very amused, it was older than her youngest cousin! It made a lovely apple sauce and tasted fine. Hope you enjoyed your pie and crumble - I'm off to see what other horrors are lurking in my freezer Mary
The Dogmother
So long as it's not meat or fish, you should be fine.
craftyhunnypie
Yes it will be fine - all that will have happened is that it will have lost some of it's structure - it will be a lot more liquidy - you may have to drain excess liquid off. Go for it & enjoy! Emma.x

theherd123
Lindy Loo, my hamster, Buttons, died just before we moved house and i couldnt face burying him and leaving him behind so i popped him in a small lunchbox on some comfy bedding and put him in the freezer. I havent yet found a spot to bury him at the new house but i will soon!
Lindy Loo
That's really lovely! Sorry, I hope you didn't mind me asking why - curiosity got the better of me. I hope you find a suitable spot soon.
theherd123
No i dont mind you asking at all - many other forum members have laughed about it before now and one member (not mentioning any names but she knows who she is) even started a sweepstake on when my fish would die
Louise
I can't believe I am about to tell you all this Emma you are not alone I have a tortoise in the freezer for the same reason She died just before I moved house and I couldn't bear to part with her so popped her in the freezer with the intention of finding a nice spot I moved house five years ago In my defence I had actually forgotten she was in there till you mentioned it
theherd123
It does take a while to find the right spot doesnt it Louise?!!
Looney
Sorry, I probably shouldn't laugh but...... We used to live in a tiny studio flat in Brentford and had a dilemma when Hamish the hamster died as we had no garden. In the end we paid for entrance to Syon House gardens and I kept guard whilst Ben buried him under some daffodils! It wasn't easy, the ground was rock hard We often joke about Hamish lying in state.... (By the way it cost us about £7 plus the cost of a trowel to bury him there!) Guest
Bronze i have loads of stuff in my freezer from ages ago Whats the worse that can happen? Didn't someone have a hamster in their freezer?? Many moons ago when my sons were boys and lived at home - they had snakes - garter and an Indian Rock Python. I insisted that they did not feed them live animals (but it happened once but that a very funny and different story) So in my freezer, I have had various frozen 'creatures' for the snakes (and other 'pets' Including Now is the time to cringe Mice, rats, day old chicks, rabbits, hares - and other things which I won't mention. May I just add that chicks for sure were not dispatched for animal feed but ones that died from natural causes. All of the above were bought frozen from a pet shop for animal food.
