gavclojak
Oh Dear, Betty boo passed away this evening, thank goodness it was a quick passing. She was very quiet the last few days, lots of sitting about but she ate some corn on the cob today and had a little dig but i have just gone to see them and she was passed away in the enclosure, it must have just happened as she was still nice and warm and had a nice full crop bless her. She was one of my first ex commercial girls and have been free for 2 years and she has had a thoroughly lovely life. Only one of the originals now left Barbara Am very sad this evening

gavclojak
Thanks again paula but as you said in your text, losing one makes room for another rescue girl.
Thumbcat
Sorry to hear this. How lovely that she got two years of freedom with you - probably a longer time than she had as a battery hen. It sounds like she was happy right to the end.
soapdragon
The downside of having any animal is when the sad time comes........she clearly went quickly after a lovely last 2 years though so really you couldn't ask for a better end for her. Thats probably not making you feel any better at the moment but, given time, I'm sure it will. Thinking of you.
The Dogmother
I am sorry to hear that, but she had a peaceful and dignified passing. Safe journey Betty Boo.
Millie-Annie
What a lovely passing, run free sweet Betty Boo. My Ivy is the last of my ex-batts and she is coming up for 4. She has quietened down and her comb is a bluey colour, so I think she is on the slippery slope. But she is still eating, still feisty and doesnt seem in any discomfort, she is just old
gavclojak
Thank you all so much. She had a good life and a good death and that's all you can ask for. She had a nice feed on corn literally an hour before she passed. I'm down to three now so I think I will be bringing some new girls home at our next rehoming x

Luvachicken
Sorry to read about Betty Boo but it sounds like she had a really fantastic life with you. And how happy she must have been too knowing that she lived for another 2 years outside of a cage.
