cleaning the sticky bits off jam jars

Recommended Posts

I am making marmalade for christmas prezzies at the moment and I always stuggle getting the label glue off jam jars... a little basket of home made goddies always goes down well with the family and this year I hope to add a couple of eggs!

does anyone have any magic tips to make it easier, some jars are ok, but others I have resigned to never using as the glue just spreads around and around

Many Thanks

Dawn

You're bound to have some Eucalyptus oil, aren't you, Dawn - I use it for all sorts of things and it's great for sniffing when you've got a cold? Try rubbing some of that neat onto the gooey stuff. Works a treat on most things. If not, WD40 is another good way of getting the residue off. Cooking oil is supposed to work but never has for me. Eucalyptus all the time here!
