Grandmashazzie
Does any one have one of these? I am now needing reading glasses.I have had proper eye test and have glasses but if buying easy readers from Poundland need a 1.5.If I am reading in daylight / sunlight I can read very easily with glasses, the problem seems to be with electric light. I love to read at bedtime and I am not finding it easy.Having to do the long arm stretch to focus. I saw an ad for these and they sound excellent.when checking around there is a vast difference in prices. From around 20 to 300 pounds! I know in life you get what you pay for but would love it if anyone has tried these lamps could let me know if you do need to go expensive. Many thanks in advance, with the long nights drawing in I need to get this sorted.
Lydia
I have 3 of these - a large one in the kitchen, an alarm type one with sunrise and sunset settings in the bedroom and a smaller, portable one that generally lives in my office but sometimes goes in the lounge. I find them good for reading, as well as topping up the light a bit in the dark winter days. The kitchen one is a Lux one, about £60, but could be a bit big for, say, a bedside table or small desktop. The bedroom one is very good for reading and a more manageable size. Mine is a Lumi one, which aren't cheap and not terribly reliable. This is my second (the first having given up the ghost after about 18 months) and has a nasty habit of suddenly turning itself off when not programmed to do so - this can be anything from 2 minutes after you put it on or about an hour! Bulbs are also difficult to source, I find. There are other makes available. The portable one is the cheapest and basically does what you expect. It would be too small for you to read with, I think and won't probably last that long. But it was cheap and does provide a bit more light in winter. Mrs Webmuppet
I have a daylight lamp on my piano....it's a gloomy corner of the room and I need to be able to see all those 'dots and squiggles' on sheet music and it's perfect for that.I know it wasn't very expensive but there's no brand name on it, I think it was off either eBay or Amazon. It's like a large desk lamp with a bendy neck just like this one... http://www.completecareshop.co.uk/household-aids/floor-and-table-lamps/daylight-table-lamp-view-large?gclid=CIKb5o_S28cCFYccGwodjwsGrw
Blackrocksrock
If I remember you can buy daylight bulbs to replace what is in your lamp.

The Dogmother
There was a thread on here many years ago about SAD lamps - Buffie was a bit of an expert, and told us the ideal lumens for treatment. I expect that you'll find the thread if you search for it.
Charlottechicken
There might be a thread in the crafty section, I bought a natural light lamp off amazon through the co-op following recommendations on here.
