I have had a week with no eggs now from my 5 pekins and Lucie.

I'm feeling quite sad that I will have to wait for Spring.

I only have 3 eggs left.

 

Anyone else on the egg shortage list too ?

Yes! Me too unfortunately...

Didn't have eggs for about 4 weeks, now getting the odd egg here and there.

 

They stopped laying when moulting. I think Cinnamon started laying again, sort of. Don't know if the other two will pick up the pace too.

I just put up my christmas lighting again, to give them some light in the mornings, when I have to go to work. I think it has helped Cinnamon getting back into swing. Might also help the others?

I still find it odd to see those eggs. They are so much more round than mine, they look like pingpong balls!

I haven't had eggs for about a week again. None today either. Will see what happens.

 

Just now I bought a great little tray to poach eggs in the microwave.

I thought mine had stopped too (the Wyandottes definitely have, they haven't laid for over a month) as Bernadette hadn't laid since last Thursday and Shelley for 3 days (for the last 6 weeks they've both regularly been every other day), but today I had an egg from them both .

 

They're up for less than 12 hours a day now though so I don't expect eggs at all for much longer.

I'm still getting 4 eggs a day from 5 layers, my youngest Betty hasn't laid yet at 28wks old still not convinced she isn't a he!!

Still, they're all in their 1st year so next autumn I'll probably be echoing the rest of you

All 5 pekins, the cochin and the columbine (she's 6 years old so she's forgiven) haven't laid in weeks - only the 2 exbats and the wheaten maran are still laying here!

Had an unidentified egg today. I looks like Bernie but she's undergoing a fairly serious moult so surely that's unlikely?

All of mine are moulting too mullethunter, but Tilly is still laying an egg every other day for me

Only one of my four bantams have been laying most of the summer. the others lay the odd egg in spring and that is it.

 

Thank goodness for my three ex batts who lay most days, I am hoping they will keep going for most of the winter.

 

Of my two older hybrids one is moulting and the little white one lays about 4 lovely large white eggs a week.

Thank goodness I only have 6.

Hubby would really moan if I had 17 chooks and only got 2 eggs.

 

My monthly total for October was 15.

BUT 582 for the whole year so far

My girls have definitely stopped now. Last egg was last Saturday. The pekins aren't squatting anymore and little Shell is pretty close to oven ready!

 

But I had 16 in October and 296 since I started counting at the beginning of April. Since the 18th August when Penny started moulting and Amy didn't see why she should if Penny wasn't it's been Pekins only - little troopers

Thanks Chrissie.

She had a good few days off so I thought that was that, but she surprised me again with an egg the day before yesterday and again today.

I think she must function on a daily temperature rather than the amount of day light, silly thing but very much appreciated
