New food discoveries in 2016

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking maybe we can keep this one going all year.

I had a girly day shopping today (on my own which is what I like best) and treated myself to lunch at Yosushi. I had chocolate mochi which I've never had before. A-maz-ing. I'm gutted it's taken me so long to taste them. So good.

Over to everyone else!

My DD took two of her girls to Yosushi a couple of years ago, they were 5 and 9, the youngest one loved it. Last year I was introduced to it, was not very keen, OH loves it.

I found that I loved their curry, can't remember its name. When we all went again in October I discovered they did a large portion, that made me very happy :D

Little granddaughter loves the chocolate mochi, I tried them but don't like them.

We are just back from holiday and I tried Paella for the first time. I thought it looked quite vegetarian as I didn't see any mussels on it,just lots of green beans and broad beans. I was hooked it was yummy. O H discovered some prawn but I couldn't find any type of seafood. I am guessing the lovely depth of flavour was a fish stock I wonder can it be replicated with a bought stock and no mussels?

My youngest daughter introduced me to eating at Wagamama and we usually go in there for lunch when we are out shopping together. I like the food, and it is a place that attracts a lot of young people - I felt like the oldest one there the first time I went. I had a fish curry which was lovely - and the sticky rice I had with it was wonderful. My daughter likes the Yaki Soba which I think is a noodle based dish. This is something we like to do together, and if I go out shopping with my eldest daughter, we go to a completely different type of place and that is special for us.

We ate polenta for the first time last week. I made it with milk and Parmesan and served it with sausages in a rich garlic and tomato sauce. We the. Put the left overs in a dish and made polenta chips out of it a couple of days later. I wouldn't rave about it but it was a bit different and I loved the combination with the tomato sauce.
