soapdragon Posted March 29, 2017 Share Posted March 29, 2017 Pretty obvious really but just thought I'd mention it in case any clothing manufacturers were reading this! I took delivery of a new Weird Fish velvet coat today and the sleeves are down to my knuckles (which don't graze the ground!) I have several lovely plain Fat Face long sleeved t shirts with nice detailing on but they ruck up round my wrists. A TU pullover has to have the sleeves turned up at least twice to be wearable etc, etc, etc (I could go on; and frequently do ) I don't think that I am out of proportion so wondered if this is a recent fashion trend.....not being into such things I have no idea why sleeves are suddenly getting longer! Older clothes seem a better fit! Has anyone else noticed this or does anyone have a particular bugbear about clothes fitting? Cat tails Posted March 29, 2017 Share Posted March 29, 2017 I struggle often too! But being honest... I think it is rather my over enthusiastic thighs and other parts than to blame the clothes... Although I really don't understand - why people are making skinny jeans in my size... skinny jeans are ment for girls with sticks for legs - why manufacturers think you don't have a waist once you are over a certain size - why some tops grow in width and shrink in lenght on the washer (never the other way around...) - why loads of tops always ride up on the front, leaving me tugging them down about once every 5 min - why jeans can't be made of real jeans fabric, but rather some weird stretchy fabric that is very thin and clingy, making them last only months instead of years Not have any trouble with Oerang Outang arms though. We needed 30" waist jeans - apparently you can only buy them on the internet And slim fit shirts - which DS fancied in a dressy pink and a smarter blue - only to be told the ones he had chosen weren't made in slim fit He already has the 'normal' work shirts so there was nothing different for him. We could have bought shirts that started from £50 but we didn't think that was acceptable. Suprisingly enough M&S have a few nice floaty tips in at the moment but the arms are not only ridiculously long but like bell wrists...horrible and annoying to wear! Then M&S mess around with their trouser lengths too, so some are too short and others too long. If you find the right one then they change it and you end up back to square one (if they aren't sewn up twisted - how uncomfy is a trouser leg when it screws itself round where it wants to go and not how it's supposed to!). Dresses don't fit me at all. Hips need larger size (always - even in skinny times) but fall off the shoulder. Then dresses that do fit at the shoulder don't allow you to reach forward and riiiiip if you don't try and act ladylike! So shirts and skirts - that's OK - I get mens t-shirts because the ladies are too short in the waistline! Why is it if you do find a ladies t-shirt that is reasonable, it always stretches sideways eventually whereas the guys t-shirts seem to hold their shape? Last week bought a few pairs of trousers from M&S (much as I hate to) and all long legged versions. All fit except one. That looked like I'd been shopping wherever Dopey got his clothes.
