patsylabrador
An image from my son's wedding. This is actually my favourite. Sorry about the size I can't seem to work photobucket anymore. It was an incredible experience and I'm so happy to have been there. I'm sorry. It only showed half the picture. I give up. I don't know how else to show it. patsylabrador
Thank you Grandmashazzie, yes we were there. It was an incredible experience. I took a little break but I've been dying to show pictures to my Omlet friends. Soapdragon, I was really struggling to share the photo. My poor skills I'm afraid. soapdragon
Absolutley stunning! It must have been such a wonderful day! Was it a Bhuddist (sp, sorry !)ceremony? Do they have a civil ceremony too? Is there any particular style of kimono/dress/costume worn by bride and groom? How was your outfit? It doesn't seem 5 mins ago you were posting here about buying something 'suitable'!!! Thanks for sharing!
patsylabrador
It was a Shinto wedding which I think is the largest religion in Japan. The bride had two different kimonos for the wedding day and a western style dress for the following day party. We had a typhoon that day but it all went well. The system is that an amount of paperwork is completed which is the legal part of the wedding and then the religious ceremony takes place. I was pleased with my dress because the mother and the aunt were wearing navy blue kimonos and that was the colour of my dress so there is a symmetry and coordination in the photos. It was a formal and respectful day but also very warm and fun. Conversation was complicated but we all muddled through. The wedding feast was spectacular and the room was next to a coi pond and a white heron flew down. We could see a pagoda. It was more than I ever imagined and the aunt performed a traditional dance. patsylabrador
Sorry, yes, the robes/kimonos are very specific and there seems to be meaning to everything. The knots of the lower layers are tied in a particular way and it's all important.
chickencam
Beautiful I love the meeting of cultures that we have in the modern world. I don’t see it as a dilution of culture but an enrichment for all.
Blackrocksrock
Lovely photos. Looks amazing and glad you had a lovely time. When I was at the stitching show last year a woman was demonstrating how she dresses these brides. Layers and more layers of beautiful clothes and fabrics. Takes her hours to prepare them! The Dogmother
What an experience! Love that 2nd photo PL - he looks to have your colouring, which must be of great interest in Japan. I used to work for a Japanese company, and they were always commenting on fair or red colouring.
