lerryn
Occasionally have some extra, & was thinking of selling some.... what do you charge for 4 or 6 eggs?
Snowy
I sell any surplus for 20p per egg.
Couperman
We give some away and sell the excess for £1 a half doz. Kev.
Guest
Yep we also sell any excess eggs for a straight £1 per box of 6 eggs. It saves messing around with loose change as well. I think its reasonably priced! (more than the cost of battery eggs but cheaper than most free range eggs).
Aunty e
£1.50 for 4 and £2 for 6. At a yuppie market though, and I give LOTS away to my friends.
Lesley
£1.20 for 6 - although as they are all colours, I ought to charge more now.
The Pearsons
Once I have extras I'll be asking for a donation towards the place I work. I work for a "not for profit" organisation under contract to the NHS. Our core work is funded but the "extras" aren't. We just started an art class and are raising funds for canvas, paint, brushes etc. Every £1 counts!!!!! Helen in Hume
Tina C
That's a good idea Helen. We sell at 20p per egg with 5p from each egg sold for the BHWT. However, we charge our regulars £1 per box if they bring their box back....
Cinnamon
£1 a box of 6 .......its a nice round number & people always seem to have £1 on them if they are walking past
Charlottechicken
50p for 4, (or 25p for two, or 75p for six) people like things cheap round here I found it just covered the price of their pellets too However, two of mine no longer lay so I don't sell eggs anymore
Martin B
£1.60 for 6 1.40 for 4 With this sort of pricing it gives me the supplier (well not quite, the chickens supply the eggs) the psychological advantage simply because people realise there is only 20p difference and people are more inclined to pay the extra 20p for the extra 2 eggs. I rarely ever sell in 4's because of this.
AMO
£1 for six - bring your own box! All proceeds will go back to Battery Hen Welfare Trust. I now have a waitlist of customers - so might need more chickens! OH will be
Boris70
I asked for a dnoation for my bantam eggs at work, as although they take a lot of effort to produce - they are very tiny - I got a £1 for 4 eggs regulary. Just a query to the egg sellers (as now with ex-bats I've got surplus again) - where did you sell the eggs, and if out in front of the house - did you have issues with kids taking/ smashing them? Snowy
Mine is word of mouth through neighbours, I take any surplus to work (they meet me at the door to see if I've brought any and be first in the cue!). I put a note on my front door so no eggs left out to smash. As soon as I get enough to sell I box them ready and put them in the fridge. Martin B
Word of Mouth. If I increase my flock I will probably sell from the door.
Helly Welly
Mine are 20p each. OH is known as the eggman at work because he sells all of them there. I do have a sign up in my front window saying "fresh eggs for sale" but as we live in a cul-de-sac, we don't get any passing trade. I also refuse to sell to under 18's and any of the grotty teenagers around here.
Martin B
refuse to sell to under 18's That's a shame, some people are quite genuine.
Helly Welly
Not in my street they're not. I know it sounds mean and i don't normally tar everyone with the same brush, but like i said, we get no passing trade so any under 18's are the grotty kids who i KNOW would throw the eggs, probably at my window.
