Chick Chick
I have half of an Argos apple kids paddling pool (the solid ones not inflatable). I’m wondering if I could use it as a small garden pond? I’ve never made a pond before so not sure if it is suitable. I’m hoping some wiser person on here can advise me please?
Beantree
You may find the plastic won't stand UV light for long and will break up. Even pond liners won't last much over 10 years (here). My opinion is don't take the chance as you could be wasting a lot of time.
soapdragon
Very true, Beantree. Equally it probably won't be strong enough longterm (ie; to withstand cold and frost - might get brittle and snap.) Having said that you could just fill with water and leave out over the summer when it's dry as a bird/chicken bath - I'm sure that the tweets would appreciate it and then you could put it in the recycling when it starts to break up.
Cat tails
I’ve made a mini pond from a big black (60L) builders tub. I’ll try and find the link on here. Don’t know the type of paddling pool you have, but make sure it’s deep enough for the surface area. Otherwise the water will heat up too much in summer, and freeze too fast in winter. Here you go:
Chick Chick
Thank you everyone for your good advice. I can see now it wouldn’t be the best and would be a shame to do it with my children and have it fail. Will have a look at your link cat tails thanks
