Hazel_L
well we made it !!! all 3 of us and our lovely girls who are in their element at having a smallholding to range around !!! On move day we waited till dusk, popped them into the eglu to go to sleep as usual then lifted the eglu into the back of OH's car. He then caught the overnight ferry and arrived at new house at around 9am in time for them to get up. They've been happy enough - certainly no drop in egg production... and they've discovered my polytunnel and its lovely dry earth... they wasted no time at all in kicking the soil all over the place. We've had to make some modifications to the eglu though - as pine martens are a big problem here (as are foxes) so OH has attached some metal grille inside the vent holes to keep the martens out. They're still in the eglu run as we haven't had time to set up the big run yet... we've weighted the skirt down with large paving slabs, the door is secured with metal clips as well as the pin and there's a slab at the back of the poo-tray too. Haven't seen any fox activity yet but it's early days. But it worked and we're here - thanks to all of you for all the advice Edited October 19, 2007 by Guest
