Chicken bald back

I found this in Pets At Home today - its a dog toy.

I stuffed it full of lettuce s"Ooops, word censored!"s,& it gave the hens a good old workout as they chased it around the pen!

It would have been even better with fewer hens,as the 4 of them tended to work as a team & pin it down between them

 

 

And a gratuitous shot of Indiana the cockerel, who is growing up to be a handsome lad

I think i may have one of tose in my doggy toy box that im sure the bears wont mind if i recycle for the chooks!

Don't think my real chocolate dog would be too chuffed if I commandeered her treat ball for the girls..... Means I'll have to go and buy one like you have - I bought a rabbit treat ball which works well for mixed grain (I put a link on another thread somewhere - can't remember which one though!! ) I seem to remember I found the link on the Pets at Home website....... But I like the idea of putting greens in the larger one.....I usually put greens in one of those wild bird suet cake cage feeder but if I'm out at work the girls would be kept more occupied having to chase around for their food.......

Hes about 18 weeks,Shirl & we know he is a he because we rescued him from 'the chop' when we visited a local breeder a couple of weeks ago to get some new Bantams

The breeder asked us to take him as hes a nice looking cockerel & he didn't want him to go to waste, & we couldn't resist him, as his colouring is so gorgeous.

The tiny new girls tuck themselves under his wings at night

 

The fact that he can't see where he is going is a distinct advantage, as you can scoop him up for a cuddle really easily

It always takes him by suprise

Cinnamon, I found these in Pets at Home yesterday. Which size did you get? They come in small (3 or so inches, slightly bigger than a ping pong ball) ), medium (5 or so inches, a bit like a tennis ball size), and large.

Thanks for the tip off Cinnamon, bought one today on the way to DDs swimming lesson! Got a blue one to match my ! Looking forward to filling it and watching them play with it tomorrow.

I love the toy. The fact that it comes in different sizes is great....smallest for the bantams and a larger one for the brahmas, etc.
