Lesley
Today we integrated all the chickens! We still have 3 Dinners which are getting very big so altogether we had 11 chickens. No real problems, just the odd peck and some pretty fast Road Runner tactics. Bedtime was always going to be interesting. Since we had Beryl and Rita, the Dinners had been excluded from their sleeping area because their Ark is in the separated part of the big run where the new girls were being kept. When it was dark we used to pick 2 of the Dinners up from where they roosted on the ground and put them in their ark - the third one still fits in an Eglu. Tonight they all had access to 3 Eglus and 1 ark. Green Eglu MarkI had Rita in on her own. Pink Eglu MarkII had Lottie and Beryl. Second Green Eglu MarkI had the other 5 plus one big white Dinner . Two other Dinners roosting on the floor even though they could get to their Ark It was like playing one of those games with one square missing and you have to move them all around
Sheilaz
I thought my life was complicated until I read that, Lesley! I love hearing how they all swap around like that. I'm glad Rita & Beryl have settled in calmly, and that all sounds well at Fowlty Towers (good name, Ali )
Mel (& Paul)
That made me smile Lesley - the thought of picking up a chicken, popping them in the ark and then takign the next chicken and popping them into the eglu (make sure the ark / eglu doors are always shut otherwise you would pop them in and they would pop out and you would pop them in and they would pop out and .......
