Alis girls
Ok which do you like and what doesnt float your boat? Like the M&S and Lidl. John Lewis leaves me cold.
HarrisonFamily
None of them really - I thought John Lewis was Ok - but none of them as good as John Lewis and the snowman, the 2015 Spanish Lottery AD or my favourite ever Sainsburys The Greatest Gift 2016.......Over my childminding years we have spent lots of time discussing best ever Christmas adverts !!! Luvachicken
Really don't like the John Lewis Advert - like @HarrisonFamily I loved their snowman one and the one they did with woodland animals with the song 'Somewhere only we know' by Lily Allen. Haven't liked many others yet either - although I think it was Studio that did one recently with Christmas music but the children that ring the bell for Halloween are greeted with mince pies - I found that quite funny. And why can't we have adverts from nearer the end of November ?

December 5th that is too late .....I love the build up to Christmas ....I would start everything on the 1st December but I don't mind a Christmas advert in November but we are already getting houses with decorations up which is crazy and why are there more Christmas Fairs in November than December
soapdragon
I haven't actually seen any yet but discussion in the staff room at lunchtime yesterday was that this year's offerings are disappointing all round! Not that any of them would sway me! I have just realised that we break up 5 weeks on Friday!!!! That's scary!

Luvachicken
Finally, a perfect advert from Aldi and Kevin the carrot. Wonderful poetry, a Charles Dickens recreation and Fairy Tale of New York to go with it. Just what I needed 😊

Cat tails
I had to Youtube them all, but sort of like the Boots one with the bag, although it is very capitalistic. My favourite is still the 2015 Sainsbury one with Mog the cat.
chickencam
Yes the Aldi one is the only genuinely festive feel good one. I loved the JL snowman one and the one with the little boy who couldn’t wait to give his present to his parents that was lovely. I think JL one this year gives a strange message to children that it’s ok to sneak out of the house into the forest at night to meet a stranger. I know what they’re trying to say but it doesn’t sit well with me

mullethunter
I have seen the Coca Cola ‘Holidays are Coming’ advert which always makes me feel Christmassy even though I refuse to do anything Christmassy (except make my swap obviously) until December. I wouldn’t say I like any actual Christmas films, but I love watching Harry Potter at Christmas.
soapdragon
Love, love, love Nativity! The very first one is brilliant and so is the second but they went downhill a bit after that! Now I'm working in a primary school it will be even funnier this year - I'm sure I'll see some characters that I recognise 😉!

Alis girls
It's a wonderful life, elf, scrooge Walter c Scott one where you can see castors on one of the ghosts. 🤣Far from madding crowd was always on at Christmas (the Alan Bates version) so to me it's a festive one. Obviously holiday inn the one with Bing and not the hotel chain. So many more
MamaCoop
Have you seen the lonely Bounty one? As in Bounty chocolates from a Celebrations box? It's funny and my favourite so far. https://youtu.be/WtG-5ni6Zjc Edited November 24, 2021 by MamaCoop
HarrisonFamily
I hadn't seen the bounty one - I loved it. Sound of Music is one of my favourite films at Christmas as my Mum always used to let me sneak down and watch it whilst all my brothers had to stay in bed - and my Middle name is Maria as my Dad also loved it. Also Nativity the first one - I always feel like Mr Poppy when I am teaching children to swim especially with all the other serious teachers around me, Grounded as my children used to love it and Love Actually.

Cat tails
Oké, warning: this might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I love it. It’s very very sweet.
HarrisonFamily
Cat Tails - I like the advert, very sweet, I did think it was going to be for a delivery company when the doorbell went 😂
Luvachicken
It's true, we should be able to love who we want. Like that little film @Cat tails My favourite Christmas films are The Snowman, The Tailor of Gloucester and Gremlins. Mostly childish, but hey, that's why I work with children.
