Scooby
I haven't seen our girls eat many crawlies but what they do seem to like is flies If there are any flying around inside the run they keep their beady eyes on them then give a quick peck when the fly finally lands

The TOAD has suprised me it surprised me too Hugs Layla yy xx I was surprised when ours all fought over a frog which has unwittingly jumped into their run. It didn't have a chance. I was quite glad they weren't laying yet! When I posted something about this when it happened, someone said that they had seen theirs eating a mouse! I suppose it takes all sorts
superjules
I wish mine would eat slugs. They are not at all impressed with them. I've even tried offering them "slug kebabs" (I wondered if they might not be able to peck through slug skin as it must be a bit rubbery) but they still turn their beaks up at them. Worms and woodlice are a different matter entirely of course!!

Madchook
Earwigs umm, woodlice, grubs and caterpillar-type things. Only toffee eats worms, the orginal 2 used to but now they turn their beaks up at them! Wish they would eat slugs! I am lucky mine haven't discovered dead mice as my cat leaves a veritable buffet outside My childminder saw her hens ripping one apart the other day and feels a bit funny about eggs now! RubyMurray
Hi there, my kids love searching around the garden for snails and bunging them in, you see feathers fly then, they even eat the shell. The next favourite is worms but no-one gets a look-in if Ruby spots it first. They also like woodlice. They all must taste nice, might give them a go for lunch, eh?! Off out now to nosey round my friends new house, see ya.

Tessa the Duchess
I wish my chickens would eat snails, I was looking forward to a snail/slug free garden, but they don't seem interested. I even put a tile in their run so they could bash the snail's shell off, but no luck. Maybe they need to be 'shown' how to de-shell a snail? Snowy
I had to show mine. I put the snails on the patio and stomp (gently) on them. They hoover them up! Florrie now knows how to do it herself, but the others are a bit slow
chocolatedog
Slugs and slugs and creepy crawly things hidden under decaying leaves etc........(and more slugs....) - I love watching them chase each other round to try to steal the slugs off each other - and the one who's running away with the slug dangling from her beak..... They can't eat worms here - we don't really have any as unfortunately New Zealand Flatworm has arrived in my garden and taken hold..... (Wonder if the girls will eat them....... Although having said that, apparently no birds will as they have a foul-tasting mucus which is irritating to human skin also ....... I once also saw Pepper smash and eat a snail like a thrush would, but she doesn't seem to have done that since......
