little chickadee
I've seen various refernces to "the egg dance" people do when they get their first egg. Can anyone describe "the Egg Dance" they did when they first opened the egg port and actually found an egg????!!!!!! I'm fascinated - i wonder how many variations there are!!!!!! Snowy
He hee! yes, I remember it well! Open egg port to find first egg - shock! Grab egg and hold aloft shouting ohh, look!!!! Then do strange jig involving high steps and lots of arm waving whilst at the same time running back to the house whilst yelling 'we've got one' (or words to that effect). Usually done in pyjamas and wellies but does depend on the time of day and prevailing weather conditions.

Clash City Rocker
After the dance (a sort of Pogo!!) and the photos, the big debate starts "who laid the first egg"
Blonde Chicken
Yep we did it, we put the precious egg down first then danced round the kitchen with plenty of whooping. Karen.
Louise
After the dance (a sort of Pogo!!) and the photos, the big debate starts"who laid the first egg" Followed by how shall we cook it and who gets to eat it
Olly
No. My neighbours already think I'm a bit funny (talk to chickens all day, appear in garden at early hours wearing PJs and Crocs). And like Egluntine, I was too scared of dropping it. I did text all my friends to tell them though!
Snowy
Oh yes I did that too - took a photo and texted everyone. They all asked how we were going to share it between five of us They just didn't get it.
Ain't Nobody Here
Oh yes! Jumped up and down and ran into the driveway luckily straight into OH who'd just arrived home from work so we had a leap about together .
Geoid
Yes, I danced. But I was at school and my mum came to my lesson to tell me, so I did a little dance in my chair
The Dogmother
I grabbed it and held it to my cheek - it was still warm - and we danced round the garden in a conga. The neighbours thought we were totally nuts! Took pictures, cooked it and took more photos and then divvied it up! Here it is! http://club.omlet.co.uk/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=6725 http://club.omlet.co.uk/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=6727 I still get a thrill when we get an egg. Popcorn
Getting an egg is so rare for us these days, when we do get one it's like the first all over again, it's such a surprise. Have to do a lap of the garden too
Ziggy
My daughter did the dance, they're her chooks.... her version of the egg dance involved a lot of shrieking (sent me running to the garden in a panic thinking something wrong had happened with the chooks) and a lot of quick, sharp, confused, multi directional movements... bit like seeing a movie with few seconds missing here and there!!
