Tweety
Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone uses Easibed (sp?) in their run and, if so, is it any good? I have been using Hemcore for the past few months, but have to have it delivered as there are no stockists near here. The local horsey place sells Easibed or softwood shavings, and I am considering changing to one of these to save delivery charges. Any advice gratefully received. superjules
Me, me, me! Was that the only question or was there more?
superjules
Sorry, slightly tipsy! I use easibed. I went to the local farm/horse/pet-type shop and they had aubiose and easibed. I told them what it was for and they said that as it was "only for chickens" I may as well take the cheaper one. I like it but don't have anything to compare it to. I think the aubiose may be softer having spoken to others but my chooks don't seem to mind!
Lovemychooks
I used to use Easibed before the place I go to stopped selling it. It's good stuff and smells lovely
feemcg
I use Easibed too - I used Hemcore up until about 2 months ago then my local shop (5 mins up the road) stopped stocking it. I could still get Hemcore from another couple of places but have been happy with the Easibed so far - it's finer than Hemcore and has a fresh 'woody' smell (though I think it might be slightly less absorbent than Hemcore). Couperman
We used to use easybed and had no problems with it at all, Hemcore is better but more expensive. Easybed+ has added anti fly stuff, useful in the summer. I think Hemcore is more absorbant, Abiouse or whatever it's called is much the same, but I would recommend Easybed as much as I would Hemcore, Easybed doesn't blow about as much as it's heavier but probably takes longer to decompose Hope this helps! craftyhunnypie
I use easibed - I get it from HJ Leas or Alsager saddlery. It's very good & my girls love it to kick about in. Me & my sister bulk buy together & the saddlery knock us a bit off. She has it for her horses, me my chickens - so it works out good. Quite hard to get hold of hemcore round here, so I just use the easibed. Emma.x

Treekeeper
I now use Easibed as from Saturday when my chooks were knee deep in mud in the run, went down the lane to the horse shop and a massive bale was a fiver. self and son then went and had lots of fun chucking all over run including on top of birds when they wouldn't move!! Now have chooks with clean feet and a cleaner Eglu. Then put a bowl in the run full of Bill Oddie mealworm crumble which they love when I went down this morning couldn't find the bowl anywhere did a bit of digging and they had buried it in their dust bowl that they had dug in the mud and is now filled up with Easibed!!!
