Egluntyne
Well my bargain childrens shoes turned out to be a bit of a lemon. Despite being asked several times if his were OK, Matthews rubbed blisters on his feet but only after he's worn them in the muddy park Anyway, took them back to the shop to show them and to buy the other pair that did fit him. I didn't expect any redress on the original pair as they were muddy and the bits that had rubbed him were blood stained. The shop were wonderful (not Clarkes, an independent shop). The owner gave me money of the new pair of shoes (£20 instead of £47!) and tweaked the others to trim and smooth the area that had caused the rubbing. IN ADDITION he gave me a note to confirm that, if the adapted shoes were still unusable, I would get £13 off any other pair of shoes bought from there! Fantastic customer service pays off - I'll go back there in future for the boys shoes! Wow! Almost unheard of. You will tell at least 20 people and they in turn will each tell at least 5, so the shop owner has given him or herself a fantastic advert. And you will go back again. Guest
then he'll be so successful that he'll buy a whole chain of shoe shops and customer service will go out the window
ubereglu
Wow, what a great shoe shop! I haven't had any probs with my school shoes that we bought from Street, I've had them nearly two years-I think and they're still in one piece and don't need replacing. This is unlike Clarks shoes that I usually destroy before my feet have grown out of them!
Guest
Clarkes shoes for kids are just cheap rubbish nowdays but with expensive prices. Trouble is they captured the market when our parents were buying quality and we grew up believing we should do the same. Oh and don't even mention that stupid gimmick where you can buy shoes with a toy in the heel. Or the daft notion that they can sell trainers as shoes if they are totally black ...... result irate parents on the phone to schools saying "but they are not trainers, they are clarks school shoes". Last year I got James a FANTASTIC pair of Timberland school shoes, totally waterproof, lasted all year as his feet didnt' grow and even at the end of the year looked like new if you gave them a polish. All that for just £40, the same price as the Stert Rites which were only water resistant. This year Timberland didn't offer any school shoes, at least we couldn't find any except with laces which he can't manage. So we bought some Geox ones, they are doing OK but are not doing as well as the Timberlands. However his best friend got the Clarks gimmiky toy ones and has already had to have them replaced, despite them still fitting as they had turned into such tatty things they were only fit for the dustbin. A gorgeous bedspread in deep red, cream and gold with handcrafted felt flowers and embroidery in a super duperking size- it was massive! Was £175 now £30! Be useful in the cold snap ahead. Guest
WOW bargain. I bought a cordless screwdriver in Woolies yesterday which had an original price of £35 reduced to £17.50 and now down to £10. I don't believe woolies every really sell anything at the original price though but £10 was just what I wanted to pay. Today I'm going to Ikea! I've been shopping with LTS for years and years and the last few years they have steadily got worse, they've closed the Liverpool store, their web site is so unreliable, their customer svc is shocking and their product range very poor. Not to mention most of their trousers are lower rise now!!!! It's still the only place I can get jeans, trousers, (long length) skirts and swimwear that are long enough and I hate the fact that they have the market cornered. I've tried tallgirl but wasn't impressed. If I ever won the lottery I'd set up my own tall clothing range and I'd do slim boots and high rise trousers! Anyone fancy financing me? Guest
Oooh I am pretty sure you'll get a bargain there.Although a lot of mileage to cover(unless you've worked out the shortcuts) there's something for everyone. Oh I know every shortcut. I was there by 9.45 and we waited for the play place to open so James could have a free play, then I helped someone enjoy their shopping more - the grankids said "lets go in the play place" and he looked over and saw the 10.00 sign and said "no it's ten pounds" So I helpfully told him it was FREE and the sign said 10am and they had lots of spaces! Saw him when I picked James up and he was very happy to have had a bit of shopping without the littlies. I bought some candles which were half of nothing and a few bits I needed for the house which wern't reduced but were cheap as chips anyway. Guest
[Oh, & I managed to find some nice bits & bobs to put away for friends of my daughters party pressies in Boots too .[/color] I do that as well, I was going to look in Woolies for pressies BUT I had James with me and we were short of time so I'll try again another day. I have put a few things away for presents though out of the stuff his father gave him. James simply doesn't do games, he has about 4 already that have been out of the box once. Also they are less fun when its just him and me so out of the 6 games he was given 4 have gone in the present pile. I'll keep the Ker-plunk and the Connect 4 as they are classics but hungry hippos, buckeroo and the other 2 are just not his thing. Remember this is the kid who wanted a sack barrow and a reflective jacket for Christmas!

I get a lot of my trousers and jeans from the Next Directory - they do extra long which they don't seem to sell in the shop. I find that even with my highest heels they are long enough - although maybe you are taller than me? I am 5'10". I agree about boots - they are always far too big!
