Sale Bargains!

Recommended Posts

Have you been shopping in the sales yet? I went yesterday, (thankfully, as it's now blowing like mad anhd raining!!!)

So yesterday I bought a purple fairtrade cotton top for £5, down from £10 in Topshop and a lovely print dress which is mostly green and has sequins and tulipy like flowers for £5 down from £48 from Oasis!!!

Am very pleased! I meant to pop into WHSmiths today and buy the QI annual for half price too, but the weather has been horrible!

I bought a 410g Jar Yankee Candle today at Atkinsons in Sheffield.

£6.50 instead of £13.99

All their "Christmassy" smells were reduced.

I got Sparkling Angel....my fave.

Yesterday I got a huge Lock and Lock box for £9...reduced from £14, 2 chicken mugs for £2.50 each instead of £4 each and 4 assorted tops for my boys for £34 instead of nearly £60!

I feel I have done quite well.

I also bought a small hand held steamer from Coles (JLP) for£29....£10 off!! I was expecting to pay £39......and it wasn't advertised as being in the sale but the assistant insisted that it was....and who am I to argue!

I am not doing anymore spending other than food for a while!!

Have I been to the sales...

Well Boxing Day I went to Bluewater, knowing my 2 favorite stores were not open I still went. I bought some half price stuff in Boots and had a good mooch around the rest of the sales, managed not to buy any shoes.

27th I went to.....Bluewater - to hit John Lewis and M&S. JL was a disappointment as there were no sale handbags that grabbed me and I couldn't even find any nice clothes for James.

M&S was murder, they opened at 6am but I had to tidy the house up before going as we had guests so I didn't get in there till about 9.30am. I bought a black jacket that fits for £20 and a grey jacket thats snug for £20 (I'm still the shrinking woman!). I also bought a purple skirt in cord with satiny panels which turned out to be snug and a black and white mix skirt which is a nice fit (and lined) they were each under £20. Then I bought a belt in a regular size to wear with my jeans for £3, it only does up on the first hole at the moment but that will change too! I also bought a scarf for £2. Last thing I bought was a lovely purple bra but it isn't a good fit so I'll take it back, shame cos it was just £9. All of the fitting rooms were closed for the first day of the sale, otherwise I may have bought more.

Today I went to Freeport Braintree to hit the outlets stores. I bought a 1/2 price mug in Starbucks (£3.95) and a pair of lilac jeans in the M&S outlet which are still too small for me but cost just £8!! They will probably fit in about 6 weeks. Oh and I DIDN;'T buy a lovely pink handbag in the Tula outlet, which I do kinda regret.

Not sure which sales I'm heading to tomorrow!!!

We went out yesterday - mainly to get the bracelet adjusted on my new watch, but the jewellers were closed

Got new winter shoes for the boys (they've been in either trainers or wellies until now  ) reduced from £48 per pair to £33. Still ridiculous prices, but slightly less painful. I don't spend that much on my own shoes! But at least they have nice, cosy, waterproof shoes to see out the season now 8)

Well I got 2 England football kits (Shirt and shorts) for £10 each reduced in my local Debenhams. One has Gerrard on the back the other has Terry.

I bought Bee The Movie Game for my Nintendo DS in HMV for £15. Cars for the Wii for £20. Jamie's Christmas on DVD for £3 and Bourne Identity and Bourne Supremacy on DVD for £7 for the pair.

I also got some socks from next for £2 from £10! :D

I did mine online - had a Next VIP slot on the 23rd and got quite a lot of work shirts for dh and some boots for me. Most of it was delivered yesterday.

I can't abide shops at the quietest of times so going in the sales is anathema to me!

Mind you, we did get a fantastic bargain - Argos had mis-priced a very expensive toy which we got on Boxing Day, it was £7.99 rather than £79.99 (reduced from £89.99) so that'll go away for ds1's birthday in April. DS2's birthday is next month and I've already got him quite a few bits that were reduced just before Christmas

Wow, what cracking bargains you have all had, well done canny shoppers :D:clap::clap::clap:

I had a new pair of jeans for a pound before Christmas from a shop near the Rag Market (Micks on Dudley Street, if anyone shops in Brum). I was pleased as they were the only pair left and were my size and the same catalogue brand as my other two pairs of jeans so I knew they would fit. They are not low rise either (I don't want a builders bum  ) :D

almost all the jeans on LTS are low rise these days, it's like they've stuck 2 fingers up to all their customers over 30 or over a size 12! If there was a good alternative for the taller lady, I'd take my custom elsewhere :x

They don't look good on anyone in my opinion (I am a size 12 by the way, but only 5'4" so not a customer of Long Tall Sally :wink: ), just low enough for any tummy to hang over at the front and shallow at the back to show which brand of underwear you are or aren't wearing, no thanks.

I went out shopping on Boxing day but that was only for a pc game and Norton virus in PC World. Didn't get a new coffee grinder as couldn't find a nice one anywhere neither did Joes brother get the pans he wanted.

Yesterday tho, I hit our new Next store and spent a princely £143 on jeans and tops for the both of us (well more for me but I did get Joe lots too )

Would have cost over £350 pre-sale so feel better for that, and it was stuff I wanted but actually waited for the sale, one particular favourite was reduced from £50 to £15 :D

I've spent enough now though and can't abide the crowds, besides, I got bigger things to be thinking of buying now (see Cars! thread) but if I buy a Mini now from our dealer, I get a free Ipod nano and car set up too

Trouble is I am now eyeing up the lcd tvs on sale...but surely now is the best time of year to buy a new tv eh...?!

I bought a lovely new tv just before christmas if you're really interested in one Chickpea - 37" lcd (it's beautiful and huuge) from amazon for £399! Bargain! It is by an unknown company called Elonex but i'm really impressed with it and their service and it comes with a 2 year warranty :D

I have been to the sales on two separate days and to the amazement of my family I have not bought a single par of shoes or boots. That is what I call being strong.

I have bought a rather nice top from Monsoon and some lovely underwear and a new coat from Debenhams. I also went to my fav shop...Lakeland and bought some more craft materials and a great little Illy coffee set. No big items though. John Lewis had a lovely table linen set ...hubby bought that as he was admiring it before Christmas and it's not often that he gets enthusiastic about the table linen (as you can imagine).

I've not had time to hit the sales yet, and besides I really dislike crowded shopping centres. Between work and other commitments I'll not get out sales shopping until next Friday at the earliest, which is probably quite soon enough for me. I'm trying to declutter anyway, so I'm better not being put in the way of temptation :lol::lol::lol:

My children have both been to Bluewater yesterday and today, in fact son's still there, been shopping, now in the cinema with his girlfriend and a motley assortment of other friends

They aren't an unknown company, they've been making computers for years. I remember using Elonex PC's about 15 years ago and they were pretty good. Didn't know they did telly's but now I do!

we bought a 32" ONN LCD TV a few months ago from Asda for £179.99 (which I thought was a good price) when our analogue one finally packed in. My mum just spent over £900 on a Sony LCD TV. My jaw nearly hit the floor when she told me, if I had that amount of spare cash, I'd have bought a cube! :D

Poet. Do you have any knee (or anywhere near) high boots. I've finally ordered some from LTS but I have a feeling theyre going to be too big around the calves.

I'm hoping tall girls will still have their sale in the middle of jan when I may have some birthday money.

yes, they're lovely, they were my christmas present from DH last year. They're brown suede with embroidered flowers on the side. They're Ecco and they are so comfortable, they are just below my knee and not too big around my calf so they stay up and don't flap around! :D

Yesterday - we bought a chicken calendar for £4.50 instead of £9.99.

We also bought an electric food slicer reduced to £20 from £59!!! The sort you'd see in a butchers to slice thin slices of meat - hubby's new toy! It is brilliant though - we have used it on my Austrian cheese & a cottage loaf so far!

I also got a dress - sort of grey & purply pink tartan shorty shift dress style with glitter thread running through it for £12.50 instead of £25.

Got a pair of Jeans for £7 & a top for £4! Was very very pleased!!! :D
