BERTIE MCSQUIRTY
my chooks took a liking to the rain - they are absolutley drenched so i put them back in the covered run and they made so much noise i had to let them out half an hour later. in the garden they are taking no cover they appear to be rain dancing in the middle of the lawn. is this normal, i thought chickens were supposed to not like rain. or have i got barking chickens? jomaxsmith
Mine too! They were out all day and got soaked. In fact, they spent most of the day standing by the patio doors looking in at me laughing at them. I took this photo today as they looked so bedraggled! Snowy
Mine love it in the rain, although they were a bit put out today as it was a bit heavy (either that or the water sitting on the garden was a bit deep )
Egluntyne
Mine like the rain. I didn't let them out today though.....it was just too awful.
chelsea
I wish my lot liked the rain! But they dont, they spent most of the day huddled in the garage by the tumble dryer occasionally popping out if the back door opened or to get a drink which is considerately placed under a patio umbrella for them!! MedusA
My girls don't usually mind a shower, but they were so sorry for themselves yesterday, they didn't really want to come out to play. The run was a quagmire and very squelchy underfoot. Little Toffee refused point blank to leave the sheltered area and stood there miserably, making unhappy noises. It's times like this, I'd like to snuggle them up in a warm fluffy towel - or is that taking it a bit too far?
Clash City Rocker
Mine are still wet today, they are out continually in all weather, including during the night, something else I didn't think they were supposed to do!!! I no longer close their run as the noise and fuss they make when locked in is embarrassing
chickenlass
How odd! I didn't think they liked getting wet either.

Jo What's that green stuff you've got all over you garden then? And where's all the "messages" all over the patio? I think they're plastic hens, no poo and no mud!! I think they're plastic hens, no poo and no mud!! Mrs Bertie I was wondering the same thing!! The green stuff is because I've got a big lawn, only 3 hens and 2 of them have only been laying a few weeks and have only just started scratching! They're too busy destroying the flower beds and the veg plot at the moment to scratch up the lawn! There was _loads_ of poo on the patio but the rain flattened most of it! The thing I'm worried about is that under the green cover on the patio is a gorgeous new wooden table that cost a fortune and we bought just before the idea of hens came upon us. I think that will spend most of its life under that cover now! Jo
