Lesley
For those of you who use the drops in times of emergency etc. I thought I'd let you know that I bought a tin of Rescue Pastilles yesterday. I didn't have any reading glasses with me......... so just bought them. When I was home and read the ingredients label, I was more than a little disappointed to see that they contain Aspartame which I wouldn't touch with a barge pole From a company which extols the virtues of flower and plant essences, it does seem somewhat incongruous I will be emailing them to see why they find it acceptable. Popcorn
I was more than a little disappointed to see that they contain Aspartame. What's that then Lesley? I have some in the medicine box, but haven't taken any with my being pregnant.
Egluntyne
It is an artificial sweetener which doesn't enjoy a good press.
Popcorn
Ar, I see. I usually suffer from headaches if I'd had them in my cuppa in the past (artificial sweetners - not bach pastiles) Thanks Egluntine. Will have a look at that.
Charlottechicken
Sweeteners taste horrid, why do manufacturers think it is OK to use them They crop up in all sorts of things now, not just diet stuff and I won't have them at any price I switched to organic cordials to get away from bloomin' aspartame popping up in every non diet drink you can think of Edited January 15, 2008 by Guest
Lesley
I'm still waiting to hear from them....... I'll let you know if I ever hear
Lesley
Cross posted there Claire........ Did someone say that Calpol no longer sell the version with sugar in? - I'd rather give children a spoonful of medicine with sugar in than anything containing sweetener
fairy&cake
when i bought calpol on saturday [teething ! ] they asked me if i wanted sugar or sugar free. I thought it was all sugar free id used usually, im quite partial to the odd sip and this no sugar version tasted awful !!! i hope that they dont stop making the sugared one, ill have to add a tiny bit of icing sugar if they do
Lesley
Thank-you - they must still be making it then.....
Popcorn
Cross posted there Claire........ Did someone say that Calpol no longer sell the version with sugar in:? I've recently bought Calpol with sugar in. The small amount of sugar they get from Calpol I don't think does any harm. It's not like they use it as a drink on a regular basis. The only reason I didn't buy the sugar free one was the headache thing I get. I'm glad I didn't now. when you see 'sugar free' on a product, you do automaticall yassume it's must be better for you than the sugared version. Same as caffeine free, yet the stuff they use to get rid of caffeine is worse than caffeine itself. Better just to cut down your consumption. Tessa the Duchess
Do the pastilles work in the same way as the liquid rescue remedy? I use the rescue remedy in all stress/panic emergencies the thing I don't like about the liquid stuff is that it is alcohol based and one morning I had a stupid panic thingy on the bus to work so took a swig of RR and somebody at work asked me if I had been drinking I like the rescue remedy cream, works brilliantly. Lesley
I don't know as i haven't tried them - I was so angry I ought to use the RR for my nighttime panic attacks - I never think as it always seems so much worse in the middle of the night Perhaps I'll try the pastilles now I've already bought them I know somebody else mentioned having the pastilles..... can't remember who it was.... Tessa the Duchess
Googled, they are the same as the liquid stuff http://www.prleap.com/pr/67696/ Gosh I've managed to do a link Tessa
Olly
I'm horrified at this - I also avoid aspartame like the plague, it gives me headaches. I didn't know they did pastilles, it's a shame they have this in, as they'd be a bit easier to take in stressful situations than the liquid. Actually they do it in a spray, it's more expensive though Tessa
Olly
Thanks Tessa, I've got the spray, but even that is hard to do discreetly - I'm thinking of public situations, where it would be much easier to pop a pastille in your mouth! I am lucky, I'm not a panicker - I only use this occasionally when I have one of those 'aaargh - it's all too much' days.
