chelsea
Now, I bought my cochins as they are supposed to be quiter than other hens....much to my suprise here's Misty shouting her beak off at 9.30 this morning after laying her 2nd egg! http://s76.photobucket.com/albums/j18/weener10/?action=view¤t=MOV00115.flv Please excuse the poor picture quality as it was on hubby's mobile, but you get the jist of just how noisy she is!! chelsea
ooh err, noise really worries me, and I thought my maran was loud. cochins are supposed to be timid, quiet and tame!!
Snowy
That's not too bad Chelsea - a few of mine do that to announce their achievements to the world, but a bit louder!
Ain't Nobody Here
... and I was worrying about Maisie having a bok bok occasionally .
Eyren
Eeep! Hopefully she will only do that once a day - my Wyandotte bantie goes off like that whenever she's annoyed, which is quite often: helicopters from the nearby airport flying too close, getting left behind in the fenced run when her friend has escaped, someone else is on the nest box when she wants to lay, new bantie "friends" invading her territory, etc, etc, etc
Janty
Lauren, my blue cochin does exactly the same thing.... I too thought that they were quiet. I get really paranoid now when she goes into the nesting box. I'm dreading the second cochin laying....and I have two more cochins on order for later this year. Helen&Lee
One of my Brahmas did exactly that the other morning at 6.30am All because they are used to me putting treats out before I go to work and I think she thought I'd forgotten them God help me when we start to get light mornings Helen
Christian
All but 2 of my 5 'announce' when they have laid Or when someone else has laid. Or if they see a sparrow. Or if they feel like it. 3 chickens all singing a 3 part harmony is quite a sight. You have my sympathy Chelsea. Luckily my neighbours like the noise
