Mrs Frugal
I agree .. Ots moving to quickly Shall I lock all forums for a few days to give us all time to catch up ? It's very tempting sometimes as whenever I log in, there are more red arrows than topics read these days .
The Dogmother
Oh, please do Kate! It must be my age I have trouble keeping up with the posts now and sometimes just give up. I'm afraid that the text-speak ones slow me down a lot - you'd laugh if you could see me mouthing the text language to myself, trying to get the gist of it
Mrs Frugal
I do that too . "Cud" gets me as I always think it means cuddle .
bronze
You got me there. I found myself say there saying cud to myself trying to work out what it meant. (my typos are horrendous )
The Dogmother
Glad it's not just me then, I really find them hard to work out and usually just give up in the end. Kate, can we have a rule about no text-speak... for those of feeble minds and increasing age?

Goosey Lucy
Following on with text-speak, I heard an item on the radio recently about this. A chap had sent a text to his friend saying he was sorry to hear that his mother/father/partner had died and signed off with LOL. Apparantly he leant it to read Lots Of Love but it was read by the friend as Laughing Out Loud. It caused quite a problem!
Lesley
Don't worry - you won't stand a chance against the two of us I kept using the phrase "See you next Tuesday" to my son's friend who comes every Tuesday to help with the 'gardening' ....... my son had to ask me to stop........ and then he had to explain why.......... ...and now i'm going to be moderated........ The Dogmother
That made me laugh Lesley. I think it's obscure enough not to be moderated

bronze
I hate the way you [one] can't say lots of innocent things because of the connotations that people have attached to them.

I remember us trying to work out what the word stood for when I was 9 and some lovely soul had spray painted it onto our school wall. We thought it might be See you nex Thursday and that they were going to come back and do something else to the school!
