Jules.
Egluntine can I borrow your plumber when needed? It's murder trying to get a good one. I think I need to get some hobrite- it was in our holiday flat in Keswick & is fab ( I used it on holiday ) And.... back on topic part of our fence is down with the wind so no free ranging girls till it's fixed
Egluntyne
What a nuisance abut the fence. My back garden is covered in small branches and twigs....having spent a whole afternoon a few days ago clearing the last lot away. Ain't Nobody Here
Well, thank goodness . The wind has abated . The garden's covered in fresh hemcore but at least I'll be able to take my Hen Partiers outside . Only downside is, now the sun's out, all my windows look manky . I think the wind's due back tonight (with snow in Scotland ).
Paola
Wind was scary last night, thought the roof was coming off OH slept through it Thankfully the house and garden are still in one piece
MedusA
I'm so tired this morning, as I hardly slept a wink, due to the noise the wind was making. It is still windy this morning. I'm so glad the girls are able to come out into their walk-in run. No free-ranging though, I think.
chelsea
very windy here in Devon last night, our power went off several times through the night. thank goodness chicken run was still in one piece this morning. The weather forecaster never even mentioned gales last night on our weather here.
Eyren
I've been awake since about 4.30am, listening to the wind and praying the fence doesn't come down! I only just let the girls out, as I was afraid they might blow away, or at least get hurt
Christian
Only downside is, now the sun's out, all my windows look manky .. I was just thinking the same. Mine need a good clean too. Only one casualty last night. A pot on the driveway. Not too bad. Hope you are all ok?
Cinnamon
We were lucky with the damage too last night. The last lot of gales we had blew over a load of sealed units Hubby was to fit the next day - this time he had left them in a more sheltered spot Lovely & bright here now, & it looks pretty warm too
ali-s
I've just been blown over Went down to the beach to take some photos of the fantastic sea but couldn't get near enough. The wind was so strong I could lean right into it until a massive gust blew me off my feet and I landed on my backside in the sand. Luckily no one was about (I hope ). Just warming myself up with something hot and then I will try to get a brush through my hair it is knotty from the wind, sea spray and sand. Eyren
Hope you're recovered, Ali! We were up in that part of Scotland last September visiting family (near Turriff, though we ventured as far north as Cullen in our sightseeing) - lovely coast, but I can imagine it's pretty wild this time of year! Well, our fence broke after all, not surprisingly! I had to call the DH, who had just set off into town to buy a new shirt, as it was leaning outwards over the car park of the flats next door - and someone had parked right by our bulging fence last night DH and I spent the next half hour carefully removing the two panels and the fence post between them (which had rotted at the bottom), and managed to do it all without anything falling on the neighbour's car Of course, now the girls can't come out of their run, at least until I move the Omlet netting to block their access to that part of the garden

Blackrocksrock
Susan and Ali - I see you guys have a weather warning for heavy snow tonight We have had a couple of snowy showers to-day and its very very cold - the chickens (now freeranging!!) run back to the eglu when its wet but I have not had time to put the extra roof on the run - I bought it yesterday but too windy to-day to do it woke at 2 am with something banging outside - never found out what though. Its trying to snow tonight but we will see - house is cosy so will just stay inside tomorrow if bad apart from the girls of course.
ali-s
No snow here - yet. It is bitterly cold but at least the wind has died down. Eyren, You could have popped in for a cuppa if I had known you were in the area in the Summer. We have family living near Cambridge, we haven't visited them there for years. It is such a long way to travel. Plan for today is to find the missing red tubtrug, the compost bin lid and the red glug. Prop up the broken fence panel, retrieve the mop bucket and mop from the flower border and dry out OH's smelly trainers which he left outside to freshen up. Egluntyne
The wind here has been relentless all night. The garden looks as if it has been stirred with a giant stick.
MedusA
Poor you. I think it was a little less windy here last night. Either that, or I was so tired from lack of sleep the previous night, that I just conked out! It is still breezy though. The girls fluffy knickers are being well and truly ruffled!
