feemcg
My goodness my patio furniture is flying about the deck - the 2 seater chair is lying on it's side and the lounger with wheels looks like someone is moving it with a remote control The rain is torrential too ....and it's to get worse! chickencam
It is windy and wet down here so i can only imagine what it is like where you are, hope everthing stays in one piece
The Dogmother
I thought of you this morning Fee, when they forecast severe gales for 'The North'. It's pretty nasty here too, but I'm sure it's nowhere as bad as you've got it.

feemcg
I haven't let any of the girls (or boy) out the runs today - a bit of tailwind and they'd probably be a few doors down! I always worry about the lorry drivers when it's like this - the stretch of M74 near me is very exposed, and there's usually a few casualties
The Dogmother
I must say that my girls were looking very disgruntled at having the wind up their skirts when I went home at lunchtime.
Guest
I think it was around this time last year when we had terrible gales, I narrowly missed getting hit by a piece of the petrol station forecourt (where I was filling up) which tore away and went clattering down the road. The power of the weather can be terribly frightening and though we're used to bad weather in this country, we don't tend to have extremes of it like they do elsewhere in the world but the incidences of extreme weather we do have seem to be on the increase don't they
Ain't Nobody Here
It's really wild here too - I've not let the girls out or taken the dog for a walk . I was planning on tidying up the garden and the run for my Hen Party tomorrow - I'm hoping it'll be better in the morning (but I'll be out at YS's rugby so won't have much time ). Never mind, a lemon drizzle cake has been made so hopefully that'll distract them from my grotty garden .
Christian
Lemon drizzle cake and chickens = what garden??? Hope you are all ok up there. It is bad down here too very windy. Have locked the girls in their run and the gales were starting. One minute bad, the next no wind. Very strange.
Egluntyne
Hideous here....and soooo cold again. The poor girls haven't been out today
The Dogmother
The wind here is bitter too, walking uphill from school to work this morning, there were tears streaming down my face... not a good look at work
Tessa the Duchess
Wet and very windy here too I recently had two new compost bins delivered and they blew right down the garden, goodness knows where the lids are I let the chickens out at lunchtime but put them back in after 2 hours in case flying bits of plastic hit them they are not happy Tessa
hillfamily
well it started off fine down here this morning :D but i've just spent the last hour cleaning feeders and eglu in torrential freezing rain and very strong winds. .........girlies all tucked up nice and warm and dry with fresh food, clean eglu and some pasta for their supper :D and I'm enjoying a nice hot cuppa
One Man Banned
It didn't hit me how strong the winds were today until I was making a few deliveries in the van this afternoon and I had to slow down to 50mph on a dual carriageway - the van was being blown across the lanes - it's only a Vauxhall Movano too, not a long Sprinter Still, back home for a few minutes then it's off to join Joe in the caravan in Moreton In Marsh A xx
Cate in NZ
well it started off fine down here this morning :D but i've just spent the last hour cleaning feeders and eglu in torrential freezing rain and very strong winds. .........girlies all tucked up nice and warm and dry with fresh food, clean eglu and some pasta for their supper :D and I'm enjoying a nice hot cuppa I think I'm sharing the same weather with you Pam. It was lovely here this morning, I even got my washing on the line and dried, but it started turning a bit colder and drizzly at around 3pm, and it's colder since. The winds only started picking up about an hour ago, but it really doesn't sound very good out there. That said son's out in it football training and darling daughter's gone out for a walk with a friend who's all depressed because he's split up with his girlfriend and he wants a shoulder to cry on. I don't mind Immi providing the shoulder, but I can't understand why they can't go into a nice warm house rather than wander the streets I'm staying in, wrapped up warm.........nothing would induce me out into that
Ain't Nobody Here
Well, I couldn't stand the state of the garden & run any longer so braved the gales and managed to tidy up a bit. With ES's help (bless him ) we dug the run over, and put new hemcore down (most of which is now in the flowerbeds ). The grass is disgusting, the flowerbeds are revolting, and I'm totally embarrassed at the state of the whole garden . (Not the girls' fault - it was like that before they arrived .) And I've now got a potential 5th customer .
Eyren
I'm so glad I thought to bring my washing in this morning (dried yesterday, but I was out last night) ! Now I'm just worried about our fence - one of the posts has rotted at the base and it's only being held up by the climbing rose! If it blows over, I won't be able to let the girls out to free-range until it's fixed The DH was supposed to be booking a handyman to come and mend it - he (the DH) works from home, so in theory it's much easier for him to sort it out, but... chickweed
Hideous here....and soooo cold again. I have not felt so cold for years. The central heating has broken down and the wind is whistling through our 1920's house. The coal fire only just about warming the living room. Original features such as open fire places {wehave 4. including 2 in the bedrooms) look lovely but act like wind tunnels. The shower curtain in the bathroom is flapping like mad,and the loo seat is freezing. Roll on spring !
ali-s
It been extremely windy, cold and wet here for days and days (well it seems like it). We had snow at lunchtime. I could hear the sea crashing on the beach earlier when I was in the garden trying to get Archie pup back from the neighbours (another fence panel down ) Winter has gone on too long now. I want Spring
Yorkshire Pudding
I sympathise, Chickweed, our boiler broke down too and it was baltic yesterday. Our wonderful plumber came out and fixed it for us - fingers crossed that yours can be sorted out as easily.
Egluntyne
Here is my wonderful plumber fixing a leak under the sink for his mother. Last week he sorted a burst pipe and re fitted the outside tap. Am I upset that he didn't stay on at school?....What do you think?
