Holiday Weekend Weather....it's started!

Recommended Posts

This is my weather. It is awful. Wind, snow showers and hail storms.

Just to the right of the picture some daft idiot was walking along the top of the harbour wall  Some of the waves were crashing the whole length of the harbour. The person was very lucky he didn't get swept away. I walked round the the other side of the harbour and spoke to the lad's parents, they are up here on holiday

I got some impressive pictures of the actual sea but photobucket has changed it's instructions and I don't know how to resize them :? Sorry if this one is too large.

Great pic Ali - do you have any more? I love wild sea pictures! I took some many years ago in Morecambe, of the sea crashing over the prom 8)

We've had a lovely day here - boys have been playing in the garden all day, sunny but a bit chilly in the wind. Just a short spell of heavy rain. 8)

I took about 10 pictures. Can't figure out the new photobucket instructions though.

The wind was wild last night  thankfully it has eased off a little today. Jack and a friend went on to the beach yesterday afternoon with a wind reading device (Jack told me the correct name for the device but I have gorgotten). The wind was blowing at 70 miles per hour. One gust registered 92 miles per hour  and another gust registered 115 miles per hour :shock: . At that point they decided it wasn't safe on the beach and came home.

Eek

It was blustery here as well last night, some rigid plastic panels attached to the chicken run have been removed, it was gusty but I'm sure not that gusty. Thank goodness for built up areas, that's what I say :D

We have had a quick flurry of snow at about 7am, it didn't stay :(

Anemometer? (same origin as "anemone", which means "wind flower")

Yesterday the weather here was cold and indecisive. Bright with sunny intervals (but windy) first thing, so we popped up to the allotment with the wood from the fence panels broken by the last lot of gales, and I planted out my broad bean seedlings - protected them with a sturdy netting tunnel, so hopefully they will be OK! In the afternoon, it was sunny again so I decided to have a go at cleaning the eglu. Just got it all disassembled when it decided to hail - cue frantic reassembly so the girls could get under cover, then by the time I had finished, it was sunny again

Today the weather has decided - for the worst. Rain and hail have set in for the foreseeable... :(

It is white here - the trees look lovely anyway, the wind was bad overnight and I woke up to find my plastic greenhouse had blown over and I have lost all the seedlings I had in there. I shed tears as me and hubby picked it up and shovelled all the compost and plants into the bin, they were all white all the hard work for nothing :(

Thankfully and more importantly the chooks are okay and cosy in their Eglu, I covered the Eglu and part of the run in a double quilt cover and a thick rug which has snow on but they are quite happy :)

hope everyone else is okay too.

Brilliant blue sky and bright sunshine now :D Sill blinking cold though.

Just been out to inspect the garden. My greenhouse has a tear in the plastic :( And  there is another fence panel down  That is the fourth or fifth one this winter.

Please, please. please no more gales  They seem to have been more severe and more frequent this winter. I don't think I will ever get used to the wind and gales up here :? Time to move I think

Bbrrrrrrr!!! I'm sat here with the fire on, watching huge snow flakes blowing round the garden! The girls made a bid for freedom when I had to go into the run to retrieve an egg, so they are also blowing round the garden. It's definitely a bad hair day for them, but they seem to be enjoying themselves!
