ali-s
... at the farm supplies store for corn. Decided to pop next door to the Fiat dealer showroom to book a test drive and ended up signing on the dotted line I swore I wouldn't have another Fiat after my Siecento troubles but the Pandas are great A lovely blue Panda should be with me by the middle of the week

Ain't Nobody Here
That's one expensive bag of corn . There was a similar thread a few weeks ago about impulse purchases - you're not the only one who popped out for "a loaf of bread" and came back with a car . Guest
my first car in 1989 was a powder blue fiat panda, sounded like a hair dryer, rusted very quickly (but it was 2nd hand) and kept breaking down but it was my 1st car and I thought it was the bees knees do they still look the same? Snowy
That definitely meets my "going out for sausages and comes home with Austin Allegro" (at least yours is sensible ) Well done, hope you enjoy it! I've heard they have a good reputation
Cinnamon
Welcome to the blue Panda club Ali I love my Panda,Marge, & think she is the best little car I have ever had. Did you get the glass roof? - it is so worth it!
clucky1
OOoooh no ! I can feel it coming over me. I want a Roomba - egg-skelter-scooby-diablo and NOW a panda . May have to settle for a fluffy one. Wouldn't be able to get that past the OH as "Oh - that old thing" Is nice in blue though
Egluntyne
Him Indoors has a blue Panda. Very easy to park at work. He loves it. Congratulations ali-s.
chickenlass
My very first car was a Fiat Panda too!! God I loved it. It was a creamy colour [where it didn't have any rust] and the seats were more like deck chairs when I think back...it was so old and very basic inside. It was great fun . I can remember that at one point there was a problem under the bonnet [crack in the condenser or something] and I could only go out if it was forecast to stay dry as every time it rained the engine would cut out. It took the local garage several attempts to discover what was wrong ...I was so thrilled when the fixed it. They look really trendy now don't they? Bet you'll have loads of fun with yours too
Guest
Gotta say the "must haves" are not for me today. I'd no more be seen driving a Panda than I would anywhere near a caravan. Mind you I'm dead jealous that you get it in the middle of next week. I ordered my new car a couple of weeks ago and it isn't being built until the beginning of April! Jules.
I can remember that at one point there was a problem under the bonnet [crack in the condenser or something] and I could only go out if it was forecast to stay dry as every time it rained the engine would cut out. This used to happen in the rain in my 1st mini. The speed of it would slowly drop, not good when it happened in rush hour traffic. I kept a can of WD40 in the car to spray on the leads to help stop the problem. My second mini was alot more up to date & had a lino type cover that was fixed onto the engine behind the grill to stop the same problem happening.Rover must have learnt from & improved on older models. hillfamily
well that beats my .......went out to get one thing and came back with something else ........ I'm starting to think what 2nd car we can get when DS starts to learn to drive next year. My car is an automatic estate so he can't learn in this -and anyway I love my car and teenage sons are not allowed anywhere near the driver's seat

I've heard they have a good reputation Once, about 25 years ago, I went out for an ironing board and came home with a dear little pair of gold ear rings in the shape of birds. Actually thinking about it I think it may have been the carburetor not the condenser..no wonder it conked out with my knowledge of cars behind the wheel
Blackrocksrock
Wow ALi-s you have been busy - We had 3 fiat pandas - all white and black or black as PAndas are black and white!!!!!!!!!!! The last one was killed when I hit a deer so a panda was killed by a red deer at Rothes Glen.
Ain't Nobody Here
I'm starting to think what 2nd car we can get when DS starts to learn to drive next year. This is totally unrelated, but a friend was telling me about an insurance company in Ireland that will insure youngsters for about £500 (I believe it's over £1,000 normally? ) as long as it's not a new car or a 4 wheel drive. Might be of interest for parents of budding motorists?
ali-s
This will be my 3rd Panda My very first car was a Panda, an x reg (x at the end of the registration plate). I didn't go for the sunroof, I am getting air con instead (tropical Scottish summers and all that ) It comes with bluetooth so I can talk to people on my mobile via the radio speakers My mobile hasn't got bluetooth and I hardly ever switch it on anyway Must buy a mobile with bluetooth The only extra I asked for is the roof bars so that I can use a roof box when I travel South with Jack, Natalie and the dogs. I have been phoning everyone I know to tell them the news Anyway must go and start a new thread........ Mobile Phones with Bluetooth, recomendations Please
Cinnamon
Shame you didn't go for the big glass roof - we love ours as it makes the car so light & bright inside We have the air con too, which is really good. Is it the same blue as mine,or have they bought out a new one? We saw a gorgeous 2 tone Orange & white one the other day, which I am subtly hinting about....... Cate in NZ
Great looking car Ali...........and that takes some beating as an impulse buy I used to own a Fiat Panda, long time ago now, but it was a great little car
chelsea
nice car...very envious! You sound impulsive like us - we went to buy plug sockets and ended up buying a landrover!!
ali-s
At last I plucked up the courage to tell OH. He is away this weekend so had to phone him. I could tell as he was talking to me he was doing this He said he would buy me a roof box for when I go away with the children and dogs , and a sat nav The sat nav will be single use which will self explode when I reach my parents so that I can't find my way home Bless him
