Cate in NZ
I hope you have a good time at Lesley's Martin, and that the eglu cleaning isn't too arduous. Eglus are very easy to clean.... but it is the worst job associated with keeping chickens..... and it gets that little bit harder when there's 3 to be cleaned. If that doesn't dampen your enthusiasm.... nothing will I can't imagine there being anyone nicer, or more knowledgeable about introducing you to chicken keeping than Lesley and Carl , you'll learn a lot from them. Popcorn
Have fun the pair of you! I think Lesley will have most fun watching though

kazaddress
Martain would you like to come and visit my eglus?
Lesley
Martin has been and cleaned the Eglu! We did 2 yesterday and just left the one for him to do - it wasn't slave labour, honestly - he asked to come He has now gone home wet and muddy - and still enthusiastic! He also had two little helpers as we had Lauren and Jake to stay overnight. Martin, Lauren and Jake Get Cleaning!
Cate in NZ
Lovely photos Lesley I see Martin risked a white t-shirt again I tend to avoid white when I'm doing chickeny things.... something to do with chicken poo & muddy starfish feet I guess his mum does the laundry in his house then . I'm sure we'll get 1 or 2 enthusiastic accounts from Martin himself to look forward to very soon Looks like you had a great time Martin.... and a clean looking eglu there I see Is your Mum any closer to being convinced of the benefits of an eglu now? Lesley
Those are Martin's 'scruffy' clothes - he just looks so smart when he turns up! Soon covered in little chickeny footprints though! It's a good job you can't see Carl - he wears ex-army camo. stuff - trousers and jacket - he says they are perfect for cleaning out chickens - nothing shows on them! He met the lady next door at the end of the drive last week when they were both oputting out the rubbish - she thought he was the binman She should have known better - binmen are better dressed than Carl
Mrs Frugal
Lovely to SEE you at last and what a chicken expert already - look at the confident way he holds a chicken!! Good for you Martin! Great photos Lesley! Thanks for posting them - made me smile!

Martin B
Hia. I really enjoyed my visit to Lesley and Carl's house once again. I've just had poached eggs and bean on toast! The Blue egg was as yummy as i thought they would be ! As for the visit, well the cleaning was very easy and enjoyable too! Both Lesley, Carl, Lauren and Jake were very kind and taught me a lot about how the eglu fits together and how it is cleaned! Overall I had a fantastic time and even came home with a chicken brochure and 6 delicious looking eggs ! 2 of them which I've already eaten , they were georgeous! Kaz, if you tell me where farnborough is I could probably arrange something if you are near! Thanks alot Lesley and Carl! ---Martin---
ubereglu
Looking at those pictures, I have now got some advice for you: Before you get chickens throw away anything white, otherwise you Mum will completely regret to finally aggreeing for you to keep chickens as she'll have tonnes of washing to do. Twiglet
I agree with the "avoid white" comments. Martin, you may not think your mum minds the washing but I bet she does! Isn't it funny how when you have a picture in your mind of someone you haven't met, when you finally see them they're nothing like the picture! Martin B
What did you think I was like then?
Twiglet
Somehow I thought you'd ask that Smaller, thinner and with very dark hair. Don't ask me why, I'm sure everyone else has imagined you differently.
Martin B
...... Why?
Popcorn
It's just natural Martin....we've all wondered what each and every one of us looks like, I wouldn't worry that we think you look like a monster. You're far too nice and polite for that.
