VW Polo quivering dog ad.

Recommended Posts

I haven't seen the offending advert, but sorry but I completely disagree.

I am very much an open minded person and as such if I find something that is personally offensive or disturbing, I keep it to myself.

Everyone is different and we have to accept that not everything will appeal to everyone.

As far as animal rights goes, I'm sure no laws were breached in the making of the advert. Talking of which, people can take animal rights a bit too far, for example:

Now children over 8 stone cannot have donkey rides, in a few years time no one will be able to ride them as this will likely be restricted further. What next, will it be deemed cruel for humans to ride horses?

Remember, if you take away the supply, you also take away the demand and we will be in danger of endangering yet another species existence.

There are far more acts of cruelty than asking a trained dog to perform. Dogs love to train and love to please - FACT. I also noticed that no one on here complained when the owl flew in on the harry potter movie and hit the table.

Think about all the animals that get needlessly slaughtered just to provide us with meat. I'm not a vegetarian, but sometimes you just have to put things in perspective.

The problem with this government (and some of the population putting pressure on them) is that they have no foresight. No thought goes into what effect these actions would have in the future.

Another rant over, sorry to those of you that made it this far... lol

I didn't like the advert because I find dogs that quiver and tremble for no good reason really really irritating. (Different matter if it is hurt or has been mistreated) I much prefer the spirited attitude of a cat, who will either stick its nose and tail in the air and ignore anyone and anything it doesn't like or explode in a mass of fur and claws.

I do like to hear other peoples' opinions and it is lovely to see what a wonderful diverse bunch we are on this forum. It is a great place to be able to say what you think and feel and everyone should feel comfortable in being themselves here.

Also, its only from reading this topic that I've realised what the ad was all about!:lol:

You haven't seen the advert, but you are disagreeing with what is being said.

Opinion on the thread would appear to be divided roughly 50/50 on the subject of the advert.

Thank heavens for free speech and for being able to have a rational and informed debate on this forum about any matter that bothers us.

I love those, they are so classy . The one with Antonio Banderas was particularly good

Thank you for saying that - I was to afraid to say it myself

Whenever I saw that pathetic dog I am afraid I just wanted to tell it to pull itself together :lol:

Anything with Antonio Banderas in it gets the thumbs up from me.

Oh I haven't seen that one. The one I hate is them all skipping around a lighthouse dressed in their knickers :shock:

oooh good, another heated debate. :D

I hadnt really thought about it too much. We just hooted with laughter at it bacause we have a jack russel terrier that does both the joyfull smiling thing and the shakey tail between the legs thing and sometimes one half does happy and the other sad. They really are funny dogs.

I read he was on a vibration plate for the scene also that he is the same dog that was in the film 'Mask' Obviously a talented little actor

However, I actually dont really get the advert. It is a bit daft.

I am geting on in years and have always been aware of the weight limit for a donkey being 8 stone but as children are getting larger and donkeys staying the same (unless we import the European larger breeds of donkey) then the weight limit has to be highlighted I suppose :)

I really like the Sing Dog ad, and my children absolutely love it. They frequently roll around laughing at the thought of it and sing the tune!! They like to imagine our dog doing the same.

OH loves the M&S lighthouse ad, especially trying to decide which items are bikinis and which are unerwear!!!!:roll:

I found the dog trembling uncomfortable to watch. I never, for one minute thought they were cruel to the dog to get it to look so sad, i just didn't like to see it and wanted to give the dog a big hug.

I like the M&S ads too, in fact i love all ads, and i moan at OH when he fast-forwards through them.

I too found the add funny although I am an animal lover through and through and have 3 rescue dogs, it did not disturb me - i knew it wasn't being harmed. the one that DOES bother me is the NSPCC advert with the boy named 'Miles' standing in his cot with an empty bottle with quivering lip and tears in his eyes - how did they get those images?????

The add with the monks and the bells I love too.... I've always wanted to bell ring!

I too hadn't seen the add (Sky+ never watch ads again!) so I've watched it on youtube

Can't say that I thought it should be banned, can't say I thought it was any good either. Shame for VW as I guess it would have cost them a lot of money and surprisingly car manufacturers really can't afford that these days.

When I worked at Ford you used to get copies of the ads given to you on video or cd - bet they don't do that now, they can't even afford a biccie in a meeting!
