Steph101
Do you all bring your grub feeders in overnight so that the food doesn't go damp?
Tessa the Duchess
Do you all bring your grub feeders in overnight so that the food doesn't go damp? Nope Tessa
jjjj
Yes. I have a 'thing' about critters. The furry type with long bare tails! and I've got chickens
GEB
I bring mine in every night. More so we don't attract vermin than to stop it getting damp though. I have left it out when we've been away for the night and it's been fine the next day, not damp at all.
HRC99
I don't either. I don't think they'd get through the bars and my run is on paving slabs, so not too worried.
The Pearsons
In the winter when I lock the hens in at night I put the feeders into the feed bin. This time of year when the hens are up before me I don't bother.

BarbaraJ
Mine goes in the fed bin every night so far.
Egluntyne
Nope. I don't believe rats could get through the bars of the Eglu and they certainly can't tunnel in as they are on slabs. I've never had reason to suspect that they have got in. I'm not bothered about a few little wood mice.
Keanie Bean
I've never bought mine in, but I only put enough food in it for one or two days. Sarah.x
WitchHazel
I bring mine in. Not so much for the worry of damp, but to avoid attracting vermin to the area. Once its warmer and we start leaving the pop hole open (roll on that morning!) then I'll leave the feeders out.
bronze
I used to but recently I've moved the girls onto the slabs where my new runw ill be to give the ground a breather. I will start again when I move them back unless I can get hold of some slabs.
muzzie
I bring the grub container inside every night so as not to attract any undesirable wildlife from being attracted to the run. I also dump the water and bring that in to wash so it is clean in the morning.
superjules
I bring my feeders in too, as I'm paranoid about vermin. I go out to shut the girls in for the night so I may as well bring the food in. The exception is if we're away for the weekend, then the girls have to sleep with the door open and the food gets left out.
Ash
I leave mine out. Runs on slabs and I cant see anything getting through the bars.
chocchick
I leave it out as the noise from 3 hungry chickens early in the morning is something I'd rather avoid

ajm200
We know that we should bring the food in every night but we are a bit naughty. if the eglu is closed overnight, the food comes in but if the door is open we leave the food out as the girls get up far too early for us
mrsm_jones
I have been bringing the grub in every night so I can refill it before bed so there's minimum fuss in the morning. However....I found a dead mouse in our Super-Glug this morning (drowned presumably!) so I will make sure I definitely ALWAYS bring the grub in now! superjules
Oooh, yuck! I only bring the food in, I have to admit, as I've got 2 feeders and only two hands so the drinkers stay out there. May have to bring them in after reading that.
chelsea
dont bring mine in and we've never had a rat problem in nearly 2 years of having them *touch wood*

Stevie
Im careful to make sure rats cant get to their sack of food, but i never even gave their grub bowl a second thought! Chears for the reminder!
Matthew
Never bring the grubs in, and there is a distinct preference for the water that has hung around so to speak rather than fresh every day lol
The Pearsons
Never bring the grubs in, and there is a distinct preference for the water that has hung around so to speak rather than fresh every day lol One of my rescue hens likes to drink from the watering can I use to fill the glugs, another rescue hen likes to wash her head under the stream os water (like a shower) but all the others much prefer a muddy puddle or the dirtiest glug or pot they can find......
