Cinnamon
I would love to know how many Eglus there are in circulation out there What do you all reckon .....500 or so ?
Wiggle
Good question!! I reckon even more than that. There are 1085 registered users on this forum and i would say that most of them (maybe 80% ??) have eglus. That is at least 850+. And that isn't counting the people who have more than one... What does everyone else reckon?
Guest
But someone may have an eglu, but not choose to register on the forum. I reckon there are over 2000 eglus out there.
Cinnamon
You could be right there. But bear in mind that there is a thriving second hand market for people who have sold them on........ I would love to know a more accurate answer, plus how many of each colour have been sold.... JAMES?????
clare*
When I am at the shows with Penny she say over 5000
Nicola H
Somebody did post with the exact amount of Eglus that had been sold, I am sure it was over 5000..............
Jacky
How did the whole eglu idea come about whats its history, how long has it been going etc. Is there any where on the omlet website which tells you this
Popcorn
Omlet was founded by the four boys (Johannes, William, James and Simon) from the Royal College of Art. They won lots of awards for their Eglu design and the rest, as they say, is history. There's a bit here to read from the Omlet site under 'Products' Hit the 'next' button at the bottom of the page to see Magazine articles too
Chicken on a mission
This might help you Jacky http://www.edp24.co.uk/Content/Community/Diss/Story.asp?Brand=EDPONLINE&Category=COMMUNITY&ItemId=NOED21+Jun+2004+09%3A13%3A52%3A380
Jacky
This might help you Jacky http://www.edp24.co.uk/Content/Community/Diss/Story.asp?Brand=EDPONLINE&Category=COMMUNITY&ItemId=NOED21+Jun+2004+09%3A13%3A52%3A380 Thanks COAM really helped me to get an over view of the history of the eglu. I had wanted to keep chooks for a few years but couldn't find the right sort of hen house until I saw the eglu in a magazine last Christmas. I knew it was the ideal hen house for my garden. Those guys really invented a cool product and idea
Martin B
I agree with you there! The eglu is such a fantastic product!
Cinnamon
In my experience the Eglu is something that someone can look at & either adore or hate. More people seem to love it,but I KNOW my Dada just does not "get" it at all & always asks when we are going to get a proper wooden hen house Personally,I think it is the coolest thing ever & I am sooooooo proud to be an Eglu owner I find myself trying to bring my hens & Eglu into conversations ...even with strangers! I would still love to know how many of each colour are out there though boys
Crooked Chicken
They're bored with me at work, bringing chickens into every conversation ............... but I am proud of my girls. And as for the Eglu, yes it is really cool. In fact, we're just building a new, covered chicken run in the garden at the moment (I say this in a whisper, because its the second run my husband has had to build in the last 8 months, so he's none to happy with me at the moment), Basil the bunny's hutch will be moved next door to the new run, and I was thinking how cool it would be for him to have a new Rablu. Better not mention my ideas to hubby quite yet ....
Cinnamon
That made me grin Sue My poor Hubby has just finished our chicken pen (see the blog on the www link below) & I am already trying to talk him into making it bigger so we can get some blue layers Of course we are going to need another Eglu OR A MARK 3 (hint hint!!!) clare*
I go to post a letter at the post office and end up telling them about my eglu and chickens I just can't help dropping it into the conversation
Mel (& Paul)
I think lots of us do it you know.
The Dogmother
I'll echo the roughly 5000 guess, that's what Simon said too.
Chicken on a mission
That fact that I love the way the eglu looks is entirely secondary to the fact that its practicality is what persuaded me that we could get chickens after all
Lesley-Jean
Exactly right CoaM. I couldn't have chickens in my small garden any other way
