There are some really miserable people out there . What a horrid thing to do. We get lots of dogs stolen in our area as the trend is to have these pitbull staff types. Its rally mean.

That's awful . I can't get over how some people think they can just take absolutely anything they want .

Do these people not realise how cheaply they can buy "new" chickens for? they are cheaper than buying a pet rabbit! I feel really sorry for the people who have been targetted.

just really sad on them poor people and the money and love and caring they put up with there hens it is just sickeninig on what happends....

It happened to my friend a couple of years ago - not once but twice!

 

The first time they got into the shed at night by cutting off the lock with bolt cutters and took all the hens bar about two I think. The next time they couldn't get in, so actually tipped the shed on its side to get at the poor chooks. Sadly a fewof them were rescues and would never be worth anything so we often wondered what happened to them. The others were all Black Rocks/Sussex and White Stars.

 

We reported it to the police, who did find a van on a gypsy site with hens in, but there was no way of proving that they were ours

 

Now I only keep two hens in my garden instead of the paddock - I hope they don't get stolen

I posted a while ago about local allotment holders who had all their chickens stolen, they were ex-batts Turns out it was the Animal Liberation crew who decided they would 'liberate' them from their terrible life They had an enormous run and loads of TLC, but apparently it is cruel to keep chickens in 'cages' The allotment holders were devasted
