Send Sir Tel a rotten egg card, here's the link! http://www.ciwf.org.uk/campaigns/primary_campaigns/tesco-ecard.html
BeckyBoo
Eggcellent. I've sent mine already. CIWF strikes again for the welfare of the famed animal Mrs B
Guest
I thought I'd have a look at the CIWF from the link you posted in the other thread Mrs B and saw the rotten egg award! And I can't think of a more deserving recipient of the award! I've sent a card and mailed it to everyone of my friends to do the same. Lesley
I hesitated as I don't like giving the info. they ask for........... but then decided it's no more info. than Tesco have on me anyway Perhaps they'll link it back to the greatly reduced use of our Clubcard in their store in the last few years? Charlottechicken
Thanks for the link Poet. Pity we can't send the rotton egg e-card to Morrisons, Somerfield and Asda too, as they appear to be even worse than Tesco at committing to good animal welfare Can anyone confirm that the best address to write to sir Terry Leahy is the Cheshunt one, I will do so (Don't want to waste a stamp ). I believe I am one of the low waged that Tesco mistakenly believe should be eating their water filled pap they call meat, that is in the 'Value' range HIDDEN EGG ALERT (with apologies for thread hijacking ) I have contacted CIWF about Ginsters (not sure they will be interested), who use a glaze on some of their products which contains, as they put it after I contacted them, a blend of egg and edible oil which is why we have to state it on the pack. Here at Ginsters we use both Free range egg and more conventionally reared egg Who on earth would mix free range egg with battery egg

Mutrix Farmers
Are any of the big supermarkets interested in animal welfare? I have a choice of 5 locally and would prefer to use the one that cared the most.
The Dogmother
The league table published in the press last week showed M&S to be top, closely followed by Waitrose.
kaylis1980
did everyone else get this awful bog standard reply nonsence from tesco today??
Guest
we try to use waitrose as they deliver and are not as pricey as M&S. the co-op are good too, a lot of their own brand products (if not all?) contain free range egg. I don't think they sell battery eggs but not sure. Their free range meat selection is poor but they're great for things like ice cream, pasta, ready meals, cakes and biscuits as they've all got free range eggs in them

BeckyBoo
I didn't get a reply either. If you join CIWF they send you a pocket sized guide to the supermarkets, which are best at what (they're all pretty rubbish when it comes to our four footed friends) and M&S are the best really, but just SO expensive that it's not a viable option for most of us Mrs B
Ain't Nobody Here
I don't think they sell battery eggs but not sure. You're right, they don't sell them at all now . (At least not in my local Co-op, presumably they're the same nationwide.)
Snowy
I don't think they sell battery eggs but not sure. You're right, they don't sell them at all now . (At least not in my local Co-op, presumably they're the same nationwide.) I think it is nationwide ANH. And although some of their products on the shelves at the moment still contain battery egg, they are currently in the process of changing every co-op own brand product over to free range. Also all their fresh chicken is now Freedom Food standard, including the chicken pieces.
