70s children BBC2 now!

I loved it too! I was surprised to see slimfast on the programme as I don't remember that being around then! I seem to recall carnation slender milkshakes unless my mind's playing tricks  There were slimming chews called ayds that died a death in the early eighties for obvious reasons and I used to love a drink that my mum bought from her weigh"Ooops, word censored!"chers class it was a fizzy chocolate drink, we really did consume some rubbish back then didn't we?

My friend and I used to stay in a caravan at the end of her garden for a few days in the summer holidays and lived on Kelloggs rise and shine (powder that turned into orange juice with the addition of water) Cups of tea and bourbon biscuits, beans on toast and our favourite dessert a Dark & Lovely!

I better stop before I start reciting the Smash ads or singing the shake and vac song

We sat and watched it, which is rare in this house ; it was such a trip!!

chocolate ciggies  and the soda stream... I always wanted one, and mum wouldn't!!

No wonder we're all going green and organic now; li8ke shutting the gate after the horse has bolted!!

Get those little E's into yr system!!

No wonder the 70's were so peace and love

I still love Brains faggots  although only eat them once in a blue moon.

That fishy sandwich thing made me heave :vom:

my mum always made 'proper' food so we very rarely ate anything processed. Those crispy pancake things looked disgusting!

If you want a real trip down the 70s memory lane I'd highly recommend "Where did it all go right?" by Andrew Collins, I loved it!

 I think I watched some of this - the dinner party canapes were funny - everything ontop of a ritz cracker  . They reckoned that the fat etc in the food and all the booze made very little difference to the waistline and helath in the end, as there was probably more manual work done.

I like the green edged plates ( dodgy 70s retro ) I remember my grandparents having them :lol:

I had the purple flowery M&S bedspread when I was a teenager.

:lol: Mum and Dad had the curtains too  . LSH and I were discussing the programme last night and as children we were outdoors more than we were indoors, unlike our 2 boys are now! We were out roller skating, cycling, playing tennis/rounders/football, go karting etc all the time when the weather was good (and even when it was bad!) so no wonder we were thinner and fitter despite eating all of that terrible food!! Arctic Roll was a birthday treat, as was fish and chips! I didn't have my first McDonalds until the early 80s. I remember Cracker Barrel cheese, Kraft cheese spread in a tube, Crispy Pancakes, Angel Delight with Dream Topping and hundreds and thousands on top!! The sweetshop was so full of memories

We watched this last night and I have to say that apart from the nostalgia aspect, I was disappointed with this particular programme.

The two presenters really were like children let loose in a sweet shop :? They ate like pigs  - in fact, our pigs have better manners than they portrayed thoughout the whole programme.

I was prepared for it to have a fun element but it seemed to be a mockery of everything and slightly ridiculous whereas the previous programmes have been more factual.

Why stage a Swingers Party.......... and only have two guests? :?

Why put Crispy Pancakes, Faggots and boil-in-the-bag fish all on the same plate?.....followed by three desserts?

Why shovel the food in and make revolting noises? - we did have manners in the Seventies :?

Disappointed :( - I feel it could have been so much better :(

Arctic Roll was a birthday treat

:drool::drool::drool:

Arctic roll always sends me straight back to Thursday nights with my mother, while my father and brothers were out at footie practice. We would have an M&S ready meal (the height of extravagance!!!!), followed by arctic roll, and would watch a girly video (normally a disney film).

We gave my lot arctic roll the other week and they were less than impressed. :(
